RCA to XLR adapter, advantages of special boxes ??
It's not my intention to send you off on an expensive upgrading spree or anything, but my experience FWIW has been that a better transport will always make an audible improvement over a lesser one, no matter what is used following it in the chain,...
1st song you remember???
Right you are Ozfly - this "Threads" vs. "Answers" stuff always crosses me up! Thanks for taking the transposing trouble on my behalf, I haven't figured out how to do that yet either. You are a scholar and a gentleman! :-)

Obviously, my last post was composed before Warrenh posted the third time. There's definitely something to be said for talking things out in private, especially via phone if necessary, before jumping to conclusions. I think we're all getting along...
Review: Lumen White White Flame Speaker
I don't suppose I'll actually be hearing these speakers anytime that I can forsee, but they certainly do seem like an interesting and unique design. (One thing: I probably wouldn't be so quick to necessarily blame what you heard in some of those o...
Thiel or Sonus Faber??...Need help please
I critically auditioned, side-by-side, a pair of 3.5's against the smaller (and newer) 2.2's at the time I bought my own Thiels five years ago, and in my opinion (which some have taken exception to regarding this subject in previous threads, to be...
Interesting Results from Accuphase Hi-Rez DSP/DACs
Could you give us a little more info on exactly how you will use the outboard crossover with your Apogees? And how will you amp them?I frankly find it a little strange in theory that you should report hearing an improvement based on the way you ha...
RCA to XLR adapter, advantages of special boxes ??
Agree with the posters who point out the difference not just in the connectors, but between the S/PDIF (RCA) and AES/EBU (XLR) signals. One of the best ways you could accomodate this connection, IMO, is to buy a new or used Monarchy Audio DIP jitt...
1st song you remember???
If anybody cares to look up one of my archived threads by clicking "Threads" next to my name below, in the music catagory under the title "In Search of Beatles Rock but not Pop", you can find my story (and a pretty neat one, I think) about the fir...

Finding this thread intriguing, I just looked at the ad by Trancehits, as well as the mutual negative feedback involved. Unless the ad has since been changed, it merely states a scale rating of 10/10, with no descriptive language used about the co...
Riddle me this...
I will also add myself Trelja, that as someone who has listened through tube power amps exclusively for the last few years, lately I have seriously been considering trying to find a reasonable but nice SS amp to bring in as a comparision piece, si...
Hendrix blues
That version of "Red House" is amazing, and the LP was also released domestically under the same title. Don't know about on CD, though.
Best spkrs for rock: Dunlavy V-Watt/Puppy-Revel??
Color me impressed. It's all good, Mejames. Just having some fun. :-)
You never know what today will bring
From published measurements I have seen over the years, there is no 'exactly' or 'always' about these things. But we don't as yet know whether Judit's CDP is a true balanced design throughout, or just uses a splitter circuit to give a 'balanced' o...
Is a Phono required?
The other thing I was going to say if you answered my query in the affirmative, was that you could look into getting a phonostage which has its own output level control(s), and bypass the digital pre altogether when you wanted to for straight anal...
Best spkrs for rock: Dunlavy V-Watt/Puppy-Revel??
Haven't heard them, but as a design consideration for high-level use in a large, reflective room, I wouldn't overlook checking into some of those newest large Dynaudio models in addition, which at least on paper seem well-engineered to cope with y...
