15k USD Speakers for Classical and Pop Extended Listening, Near setup, Low volume
If you are close by, go have a listen to this and compare with Magico, Vivid, KEF, Focal, Paradigm in the same price range or much higher. I have with the bigger NS5000. NS-3000 – Custom Home Automation Solution, Entertainment Systems (kennedy-hi...

@akg_ca Are you speaking from experience? of doing this in a small room. If not then you need to understand the issues of a desk, monitors, and others reflecting in front of you. That will be worse than elevator music. @ilikeclassical I gave you ...
15k USD Speakers for Classical and Pop Extended Listening, Near setup, Low volume
The KEF Reference 1 was a speaker I was considering. However, I upgraded my KEF LS50 to the KEF LS50 Meta and heard a big improvement. Contrary to what I read online about it being a minor improvement. I have really good gear and could hear the di...

@grislybutter So you were underwhelmed when you heard a speaker behind you? Total opposite of how I hear my office system.

A floor stander like the Paradigm Personal 3F with a super warm amp. Something along those line. I may have misspoken when I said a floor stander could work great. I was assuming the clear listening space was 13 x 21. I now think that is your over...
15k USD Speakers for Classical and Pop Extended Listening, Near setup, Low volume
I am from Toronto (yyz) but now live in Santa Barbara, CA. There is a great CODA dealer out of Winnipeg I forgot the guy’s name. Doug at Coda can give you the dealer info for Canada. Your room is much better than mine for audio. Whatever, you put...
15k USD Speakers for Classical and Pop Extended Listening, Near setup, Low volume
My friend Danny who knows more about audio that I ever will recently came over to listen to my other system. He listened to my office system too. He was blown away by the LRS+ and said why would you need anything else in a small room such as mine....
Handling Heavy Amps
The second AHB2 will give you more volume on your speakers.  On my NS5000 speaker my stereo AHB2 is about 90% of max volume for about 70-80 dB. I like to use the lowest gain setting on the amp. The middle gain setting does get you a bit more granu...

A better approach would be to put the speaker behind you so that the desk is not a big reflective surface. If you do not want to do that then some small monitors on the desktop (preferably with some DSP) would be choice #2 for me. Office System |...
Handling Heavy Amps
The AHB2 will sound different than both of the Bryston 4B3 and Accuphase. I am not a huge Bryston fan anymore, but I would take a 4B3 over a single AHB2 on the Harbeth. I would take 2 AHB2 over the 4B3. The Accuphase and Harbeth would not work fr...
Magnepan LRS+ which amps do you use ? * 100 watts or less **
I used the GAN400 2x with the LRS+. It is great for the $1k used I paid both times.
What DAC/HA/Streamer should I audition at Axpona in April? Dealer comments welcome, too.
CanJam NYC 2024 Part 1 - Headphone Guru Nice photo of the Benchmark HPA4.
What DAC/HA/Streamer should I audition at Axpona in April? Dealer comments welcome, too.
The Matrix Mini-iPro 4 solves the streamer and DAC problem. It also has a headphone out. You would just need get an amp. I have a Benchmark DAC3B (same as the HGC) and the Matrix is not bad in comparison. I had the prior iPro 3. Matrix Mini-i Pro...
Magnepan LRS+ which amps do you use ? * 100 watts or less **
I ended up not following my advice and put the mostly Class A CODA #16 on the LRS+. It is definitely the best the LRS+ has sounded. The LRS+ can really use the power and current. My Sanders Magtech (Magnepan + Tech) was great on the LRS+ at 500 | ...
Overkill for small room
Putting a speaker into a small room is not easy. The issues of amp and other gear are minor compared to the speaker and room interactions. I learned this the hard way.
