Good old days
I don’t mean to burst your bubble. But before you hang up your HI-FI boots you might want to consider a different type of speaker. A simple British 2 way BBC design might be the ticket. Spendor, Harbeth, Graham are some that just might get you off...
Describe the "new HiFi sound"?
@secretguy "Someone using Elton John as an example of a pianist is what’s wrong with civilians talking about music." Ain't that the truth!
Used vs. new
I haven’t bought a new speaker in 15 years. I just bought a mint pair of Harbeths with stands that go for over 9 grand new and I paid less than half of the retail price. It’s a buyers market. My rule when buying used is the speaker is less than 5 ...
Something strange with imaging
It might be the anti-skating adjustment needs to be changed!
Top turntables under $2k
In that price range my pick would be the Technics SL-1200/1210 GR. My friend has one and it an outstanding table. It has a decent arm and all the adjustments that you would ever need in a turntable!
Harbeth 40.3's. Should I buy them?

Help Connecting Dual Subs To Monoblocks
" I only gave one set of pre outs on my preamp so I need to use the high lever connections." Get a pair of these!
Harbeth 40.3's. Should I buy them?
"I would have 14 days to return them. I would lose on shipping costs, that’s it." At that price, up in my neck of the woods that purchase is called  a no brainer!
Harbeth 40.3's. Should I buy them?
@grislybutter Glad you learned early. Believe you me, I doubt that many on this site haven’t made some bonehead mistakes including me! LOL
Harbeth 40.3's. Should I buy them?
@grislybutter Like I said, you take a big hit if you buy new and then sell it. That’s why I only buy used. The last speaker I bought new I was lucky to get 50% of what I paid!
Harbeth 40.3's. Should I buy them?
@grislybutter Are you sayin’ that you take that much loss on something that you bought new or used? I can see that on a new product but not used!
Harbeth 40.3's. Should I buy them?
@grislybutter Not all speakers are returnable without some kind of loss once the box has been opened. In the past 20 years and the many used speakers that I have bought and  never took any loss on any speaker that I have sold!
Harbeth 40.3's. Should I buy them?
Since you are buying them used, why not give them a try? If they don’t work in your room you can resell them. If you were buying them new that would be a different story! BTW, I have owned many Harbeth models and always enjoyed them! The price of ...
New outlets on some cd players
Many components don't have a 3 prong cord! For most modern 120V devices with US power cords, a two-wire power cord can be used if the device is "double-insulated". You can look up the definition of that, but basically it means breaking the outer...
