Automatic return arms - still produced ? For $60.00 get the Q-up tonearm lift. It was just given a nice review in TAS.
Power from Wall That is for a 20 amp line. They make one for a 15 amp line. I explained the reason a 20 amp circuit(overkill) would be needed, but if you want to have one put in you will have to have your wiring changed to 12 gauge. Sounds like it's time to call a...
Power from Wall A 15 amp circuit will handle 1800 watts, a 20 amp circuit will handle 2400 watts. What you have now is sufficient. No possible way would you need 45-60 amps. If the circuit breaker does not trip on your new system you should be fine,if it does the...
Should I finish my basement Czarivey, I've lived in New York and Connecticut and the two towns I lived in they did have the right to come in and inspect for assessment. Sad but true!
Should I finish my basement Once you finish it your town will consider it as another room and raise your taxes when the tax assessor comes a knocking at your door. Leave it the way it is!
svs-sb-1000 vrs. rel t zero I can't comment on the Rel ,but I had the SVS and it is an outstanding sub. It has a small footprint and many hookup options.
The Arm/Cartridge Matching Myth Three warped records out of a thousand? You are a very lucky guy. I blew out many woofers(high mass arm high compliance cartridge) until I matched the arm and cartridge. IMHO your findings seem like a lot of hogwash to me!
Do prefer a black or silver faceplate? It never made a difference to me. As a matter of fact I have mixed gear in both black and silver.
Recomendation on turntable for less than $1500 Check out the Sota Comet with S303 arm. The Needle Doctor sells it for about $1500.
Help finding a Mid-Sub Check out the SVS line of subwoofers!
"Buzz" Coming Through Speakers Plug in a component directly into the power amp leaving the preamp out of the loop and see if the buzz goes away. I presume you have no power conditioners plugged in.
"Buzz" Coming Through Speakers How are you sure the problem is with the preamp and not something else causing the buzz? If it is not on a dedicated circuit you can start unplugging anything that is plugged in to that circuit. A dimmer switch is a known source for producing a buzz.
New to high end audio phono parasound p5 Many moons ago before the cd came out most preamps came with an on board phono stage. That being said you should be satisfied with the one that comes with that preamp. Anything else would be overkill. I had many preamps that had a better phono sta...
Is a 12au7 a safe replacement for a 12ax7 I had the same problem with my phono preamp. Too much gain with the 12AX7 that should be used.I tried a 12AU7 and that was not enough,so I tried a 12AT7 and it is perfect with the output of the cartridge I use.The gain factor of a 12AU7 is 19 and ... |
