Active speakers: Audioengine vs other brands. Opinions? Another vote for Dynaudio. The Xeo and Focus XD series 'can' also be wireless.
Buying Without Audition Going to shows is good But usually the rooms are not too good. That said if you are looking to replace existing speakers the best thing to do is explain the sound you would like get and what you're looking to change with your existing speakers. Of...
Whats a good freq to measure baseline SPL when calibrating a sub? I agree with the Wolf - Use your ears. I tried using a test cd with tone sweeps to blend in my Rel with my speakers. Once I got what sounded like a perfect blend the bass was severely overpowering once I started playing music.
Need help with room and speaker setup, big dip from 250-80hz Have you tried less toe in and maybe try 2ft from the side walls (a little closer together)? When I went for a demo many years ago with SF Cremora auditor M's the dealer had them toed in pointing to my shoulders.
Quicken the burn in time for new speakers by using a cheaper SS amp? IMO I would use a SS amp to burn in. When I had my Octave and needed to break in new speakers I borrowed a SS amp to run them 7/24 for 450 hrs (approx 19 days). When I went to work I didn't want any output tube failures even though Octave has a...
Raidho just announced new D .1 models My local dealer has a pair of D1.1's that he is breaking in for Axpona. I haven't heard them yet. I'll hear them at Axpona for sure.
ground the outlet or not?? Guys - I have the Equi-tech cabinet mount power center with an earth ground Earth ground? No it ties Neutral and safety ground at the output like all good isolation transformers should. Neutral and ground are electrically the same point. But 1 ...
Thoughts on balanced power I used an isolation transformer with a balanced output for a couple of years. I really cuts down on the common mode noise (Neutral to ground) noise by 146db. Also reduced (not eliminate) a hum I had in my system. But I stopped using it because it ...
Sonus Faber Finish Maintenace I've been using Meguires Next Tech 2.0 was with my Dynaudio C1 sigs and Raidho D2's without problem. That said if you do use car wax make sure it's just wax and NOT a cleaner wax. I also use a high quality microfiber cloth. It takes away swirl mar...
Upgrade from Sonus Faber Venere 2.5 to ? Check out Dynaudio. There are several models in your price range.
I hate when this happens ...... It happens all the time. When I first started demoing speakers I brought my Mission/Cyrus 782's with me. The day I heard the SF Cremora auditor M I said that's the sound I want but at the time wasn't ready to spend 7K. I kept looking until I heard...
Adding sub to Sonus Faver Guarneri Evolutions...need advice where to set crossover on sub @tboooe I just used my ears but will admit I thought I had it right a couple of times.
Adding sub to Sonus Faver Guarneri Evolutions...need advice where to set crossover on sub I agree with a 50-60hz starting point. But in addition to the phase switch the problem with Rel is the phase is either 0 or 180 degrees. The problem there is if the sub is leading or lagging the main speakers flipping the switch then they will onl...
Isolating Digital Noise, need help. Lowrider is this a new problem that cropped up overnight? Is the whine present in both channels? Does your Arc have tubes? Tubes can make some very strange sounds especially when getting microphonic. If it does have tubes try tapping them lightly ...
Isolating Digital Noise, need help. I'm not a big fan of power strips. Have you considered a small isolation transformer or a small battery regenerator? Another thought. Do you have a Nordost or Ansuz dealer close by. I ask because you may be amazed how well products like the Nordo... |
