Treasure KT120z vs NOS GEC KT88
I never heard the Treasure KT120’s but I did have the TS KT120’s and did not care for them at all. As far as re-issue Gold Lions vs Original GEC/Gold Lion/ Marconi (Marconi was the only manufacturer) they have very different sound characteristics....

Here is an interesting review of Raidho/Ansuz/Aavik. It’s a long read but pretty much explains why I have what I have.http://www.monoandstereo.com/2016/05/raidho-ansuz-aavik-in-depth-overview.html?m=1

Honestly the Octave has everything the Aavik has to offer up to around 85-90db. But for the extremely rare times I listen over 90db the Octave just didn't cut it. Also I was able to eliminate 4 boxes (with cables) and replace it with one. Oh and t...

My first Raidho's were the D1's driven with an Octave V110 tube integrated with a black box. The Octave sounded great with the right tubes. But before the D1's I had Dyn C1 sigs which had deeper lows. I thought I could blend in my Rel B3 but it di...

@chronoglidesky - The Ansuz MainzD8 is quite amazing. I have a Ceramic pc going from the Mainz to my Aavik U300. I just recently upgraded the Ceramic from the wall to the Mainz to the D-TC pc. Quite amazing. Like I mentioned above the Ansuz cables...
Rare and non-heavy advertised Ribbon \ Foil cables?
If you live near Chicago I have Eric’s Impulse and Enchanter PC's. Not his latest design but very good. I also have his original Interlocker RCA IC's.
Unusual hiss issue - Searched and not found!
@tls49 My bad - When I think of Jolida I think tubes. A hiss that fades is a typical problem with tubes and or maybe a socket.
opinions on Nordost PC
thaybran - Please post your findings. I personally have no experience with the Tyr2 power cable. A few years ago I had a Norse demo case and later a Norse2 demo case when it first came out (and the Tyr2 power cord wasn’t released yet). Also both t...
Unusual hiss issue - Searched and not found!
I agree with Matt up to point. It sure sounds like a tube to me. But which one?? Is it in both channels? If so sounds like an input tube. But if both channels it could be driver/splitter tubes or an output tube. If in just one channel reverse the ...
Can SMPS based preamps/amps sound organic ?
@kijanki That’s for the clarification. I’m going by what I learned in school a very long time ago. ;-)Just another reason I rarely rely on specs and measurements. I trust my ears the most. Ive heard stuff that has great specs and measurements that...
Can SMPS based preamps/amps sound organic ?
@pani As stated above SMPS has come a long way. But I can think of a reason a LPS may sound better in your home. One thing is a transformer will filter out or reduce incoming high frequency electrical noise where especially older SMPS will pass it...
Why is an XA30.5 a bad match for Revel Ultima Salon II speakers?
@bifwynne Depends how loud you like to listen. Tubes are fantastic from top to bottom until you want max spl. As you hit the upper limit of tubes the highs and mids will increase in loudness but the lows will peter out and stay consistent. That sa...
