Rega P9/Apheta Hiss/not Hum I have a Rega P-9, Benz Silver Ref MC, Benz PP-1 Lukascheck phono, NO noise at all. Never heard of this problem with P-9.Can't figure out how you would have noise like that... is the cartrige ground wire not connected to the pre? but that would be...
No bass in the Proac Response 3 If ALL the 6.5" drivers had their foam suspensions changed out then you will need break in time to get the bass back. If only one driver was changed and suddenly bass has disappeared, the last post may have merit... did you somehow reverse polarit...
Will this hurt anything? OK let me get this straight... you're using "no name" Horn tweeters from ebay to replace Snell E-III tweeters and have the reaction "as if a veil had been lifted"?Those must be really incredible horns.. I find that hard to believe that it would be...
Pat Metheny Group - Geffen Records Remasters Yeah I'd be interested too - I have the original "Still Life Talking" LP on the u.s. Geffen label and it is not a good pressing... I've never been able to find a good pressing of it on LP, and have never seen an import pressing of this title. I bo...

Upgrade Cardas Quadlink spk. to Cross or Neutral? I would recommend either the Cardas Hexlink 5C or even better the Cardas Golden Cross. I've had the Quadlink, the Hexlink and the Golden Cross, and the Golden Cross will give you the best sound. I would not bother with the Cross or the Neutral.
Brand new vinyl - skips? That sounds REALLY weird that your brand new audiophile quality records skip... did you hit something on the tone arm and now the antiskating force is set extremely high (causing the arm to not want to move inward??) I would check your tonearm set...
Another band to snub your noses at HiFi1313bm:I'm assuming you saw the "original pre-pop" Journey if it was 1975... a favorite tune and underrated album was their "Look into the Future". I would have liked to have heard that performed.
arguments against starting a vinyl collection? We seem to be having a lot of these vinyl vs cd threads lately. I don't think Vinyl is overwhemingly "superior" to cd. You do not have to spend $$$10K to get a good phono unit (but it wouldn't hurt!) or that much on table and cart...I'll bet for $...
Why vinyl? Les creative:Really good post response and I agree. I've never left vinyl, being an amateur record collector since the 70's, basically a Rega man with a P-3 and now a P-9 for the last 5 years. I only got into CD's around 2001 with a used Planet. N...
REL Subwoofer Cable Upgrade? "Upgrading the stock cable between amp and a REL sub is a TOTAL waste of money."Not true, at least for me. I had a custom high grade cable constructed by Savant Audio for my Rega Vulcan (REL based) and it did make a difference. Bass is more forcef...
A Newbie's First Week Impressions -- Vinyl Rules You won't be satisfied until you go somewhere over the $3k mark for a table and $2k for a really good moving coil... and a really good dedicated phono preamp. THEN you'll be raving about vinyl. I have a pretty good Nitty Gritty machine but they sa...
Is "audiophile" being overused in the LP listings? Chidancer:I'm with you on Aja. I have the MFSL and the new aniversary pressing Cisco, and there is nothing wrong with the MFSL in MHO. The Cisco and MFSL are different presentations, the Cisco is more forward, richer and fuller lower mids, but MFS...
Details of Beatles Vinyl Master Recording BOX Set? What is "different" with a Mobil Fidelity Sound Labs Half Speed mastered LP pressing, or "MFSL" is:-- the original master tape, not a copy or duplicate, is used to master the pressing.-- the tape is run on high quality equipment at half-speed, whi...
Benz Reference 2 I have the Ref 2 Silver, and think it's great. I believe they changed it to Ref 2 "copper" a year or two after I bought the silver.. I do not know the difference in sound. If I could do it over I'd have gone straight to the Ruby or I'm told the Ca... |
