Ohms, my - help me understand
You have to remember the 6 ohm rating is an AVERAGE. at some lower frequencies, it may drop to 4 or 3 ohms... and may be 8 ohms at some higher frequencies.. (I don't know exactly what the Thiel's impendance curve is but many speakers exhibit a cur...

All Italian speakers look and sound beautiful!I LOVE my Chario Academy 1's!
difficulty finding CD player match for Magneplanar
I don't want to insult you, please understand, but ditch the adcom preamp! I would start 'home trying' lots of other pre's or, try a really good passive pre with the cd player and your reaction should be WOW where have you been all my life? yeah t...
Good amp for Klyne....
I'm using my Klyne series 7 line stage with an Eagle 4 and LOVING IT! the sound to me has never been better... cables are all Cardas Golden Cross and Ensemble. power conditioners are highly modded Tice Solo and solo HC.. I am traditionally a passi...
No preamp 'Balance' control?
adding the balance control adds another device between you and the music, preamps are that much more transparent without them... My Klyne uses two input "gain" type pots ant then a volume pot, so you raise the gain on each channel so that acts lik...
How much difference does a phono stage make?
Going from a NAD to a really nice unit should be very worthwhile... I have a Benz Ref. Silver going into a Benz Lukascheck phono pre unit and it sounds wonderful.. your Benz is high output it looks like so you will have to find a phono unit to wor...
Best speakers to go with a turntable
for that amount of wattage, can you find a pair of used JBL's in your country? Like the L-100, L-36, L-50 or similiar? Klipsch should do it also. with 25 watts per channel, the trick is not to turn it up so loud you are "clipping" the amp all the ...

I happen to think Chario's (academy1 or Millenium) are beautiful with the solid walnut cabinets... also sound is extradinary as well.. good luck finding a used pair.. pretty rare now.
Van Halen on 200 gram vinyl?
the original pressing of VH's 1st album was already pretty 'hot stamped' at least the copy I had and had ALOT of high frequency extension and information, a bit too tipped up actually.. I would look for an original 1st gen. pressing from 1978... a...

Which songs/albums take you back to college?
Joe Jackson, The Police, The B-52's, The Specials, The Clash, Blondie, and yes, Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" was heard spilling out of dorm rooms all over campus 79-1980 and thereabouts.. oh and "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" played everywher...
KEF 103.2 - what to expect?
Above post is correct, the 103.2 is not demanding to drive at all, 8 ohms will be fine with that amp. I have a pair of KEF 103.2's and I found them to have a very nice, polite, accurate tonal balance at the expense of volume and sensitivity.. you ...
Billy Cobham's Spectrum
Chazro..good information.. I've been a fan for decades but never knew all that! sounds all too familiar though, I've had some dealings and run-ins with rock musicians and their egos that really left me with a bad taste in my mouth... 'snoozefest' ...
Billy Cobham's Spectrum
5u4: Hey I like "Power Play" too.. 80's sound, but very good recording... isn't that on the GRP label?
