Shelter 90X Tracking Force Thanks. Yeah this cartridge is revealing things I never paid attention to before.....and I almost bought a Zyx airy, but my dealer suggested this would provide a better fit for the sound I was after. Actually it was going to be a 901 and a Agon me...
Good sources for tubes other than Upscale Even Andy at VTS says good things about Kevin at Upscale.
DAC or CD Mike although I have read a lot re: the "Remy" please advise how it improves over my CAL Audio/Benchmark DAC 1.

audio research LS15 preamplifier I have the LS-15 and use the Direct input for my DAC and the Balanced input for my phono stage. I can't say that I hear a big difference. Obviously you receive some advantges in gain when using balanced. Theoretically balanced makes a difference i...
Good sources for tubes other than Upscale I recommend Andy at Vintage Tube Services hands down. I had a positive experience with Upscale, but VTS just seems more forthright. At this writing, Andy is preping a set of 4 Amperex/Mullard 12AX7LP for me to evaluate in my phono stage. Good luck
Quest For Phono Preamp Try the E.A.R 88PB tubed stage. Gain/loading is automatic. Volume/mono is there with MM/MC. It is very quiet as well. I just auditioned one and it bettered my PH-3.
Classical Recommendation Thanks for the feedback. I really love the sound of oboe/sax. Do any of your recommendations feature this combo?

Audio Research PH3 service, upgrades If it is not too late/you still care, I used the Tungsram 6922 in both my PH-3 and LS-15. For me it opened the soundstage, and dramtically extended the base vs the stock Sovtek 6922's
How to Manage Rhea "Noise" Thanks again for the feedback. Please refer to the other post.
Rhea Noise Once again Thanks for your feedback.. I recently spoke with Mike from Aesthetix. After some tube "gyrations" he concluded the tubes were bad at V 1/2 on both channels. He is burning in a new set for me as I write this. Since I mounted the Shelter ...
Rhea Noise Thanks all for your feedback. Refer to the other post for additional info, however I never heard noise with the PH-3. The stock ARC/Rhea both use sovtek 6922.
How to Manage Rhea "Noise" Thanks all. I will be talking with Mike at MS to help me through this as well. Hopefully the following will answer a few questions. It currently resides on its own shelf. Power cords do not traverse interconnects. Noise has a sea shore charaacter,...
