Rhea Noise
For what it is worth I would not trade my Rhea for anything.....well maybe a Manley since I have their mono-blocks but other than that nothing. My noise issues have been completely managed since my original post. Once again I salute their tech sup...
Tube-amp for Magnepan?
No disrespect to the thread......but glad to hear from satisfied Manley amp owners. I bought the Manley's in 05 and talked to Paul Fargo who heads up their tech support. What sold me was that he stated these amps were "voiced" for the Maggies. At ...
Tube-amp for Magnepan?
For what it is worth I run Manley 250 W mono's with my Maggie 3.6. The tubes are Electro-harmonix 6CA7. I believe I have a wonderful warm sound, with an incredible sound stage especially its depth. As tube amps go, these have more than enough powe...
Soundcraftsman amps anyone????
I purchased the A 200 back in "93" It was my first separate system, and drove my Maggie 2.6. Although I have switched to tubes my A 200 is still kicking and is part of my "whole house" system. It powers my deck speakers (Sonance) with ease. As a m...
Audio Research PH7 versus Manley Steelhead ?
I have Manley Neo Classic 250 mono's with an ARC Pre/Rhea phono. What could I gain by switching out the Rhea for a Steelhead or PH-7. I'm thinking system synergy.
Passive sub for Magnepan 3.6r?
Jimburger, tell more about the dual subs in terms of the sonics. I have talked about this with Richard Vandersteen as a side bar to seeking an upgrade for my 2W. He advised me that adding another old 2W would provide better performance than upgrad...
Passive sub for Magnepan 3.6r?
I have operated 3.6's with a Vandersteen 2W for years. It has the reputation of being very fast and musical. This version is not recommended for home theater applications. I have hosted many listening sessions and the participants were continuousl...
Tube amp selection- for Magnepan 1.6QR
I have owned Maggies since 93 and am now with the 3.6. I have tried other brands but IMO none match the soundstage/imaging. I then added tube amps and gained incredible depth to the soundstage. ARC Pre, Rhea phono, and Manley 250 mono's. I also ha...

Linn lp 12 upgrade or new TT ? please help.
I went thru this same decision tree around March of 06, and like you asked the Agon community for input. Like you I rec'd some solid feedback that in summary said try something different or stay put.........and also like you I chose to stay put. I...
Kind Of Blue 1st pressing stereo...
Well of course mine is not sealed but it is in great condition. I would not part with it anyway. My father has a lot of original recordings of Charlie Parker on 78's (the Dial) Label etc, but their condition is no where near mint.
Kind Of Blue 1st pressing stereo...
Nice thread. I would love to know the value of my 45 rpm version purchased about 6 yrs ago for 75.00
Manley Neo 250s and Maggies
I purchased 4 matched quad's/2 matched pair of the Electro Harmonix 6CA7's. The bias ranges from 0.52 to 0.55. I looked at other tubes like the "Winged C which I had heard about but the budget dictated otherwise.
Manley Neo 250s and Maggies
As usaul when spending at this level I believe the differences are minor, but first the 6Ca7's were perceived to be more reliable. They are biased at twice that of the GT's. The higher bias is at the recommendation of the tube dealer/not Manley. T...
Manley Neo 250s and Maggies
This response might be a bit late but I have owned the Manley 250's with Maggie 3.6's since May 05 and I love the breadth/depth of my soundsatge. I recently, based on Paul Fargo's recommendation, switched out the GT EL-34's for Electro Harmonix 6C...
