How do you judge audio components and speakers?
Furthermore, you have completely contradicted what you say is the way you judge audio components--you claim by "listening"---yeet you have never heard Mahgister's system so you are judging solely on looks alone--and apparently have passed that tra...
How do you judge audio components and speakers?
@insoc -- Thank you for getting this thread back on track--what a derailment! OP - whether you feel like you insulted mahgister or not, as a former judge i would have to rule that you did simply by telling him he needed to get rid of many things ...
Turn off or leave on?
My Aesthetix gear specifically instructs to turn off when not in use--i presume to preserve tube life. I'm curious whether other manufacturers give instructions on this as well ?  If they don't i would contact them and ask them.
Audiophiles on Audiogon.
@waytoomuchstuff --that video clip was right on point and helped me explain my audio obsession to my wife who is a wine nut. @jackhifiguy Whether or not you are a troll, someone pointed out that you haven't really been here long enough to make ju...
The magic of outdoor listening
Living in the AZ desert it's amazing how far sound carries--i can hear someone blasting music over a mile away so i figure they can hear me too--but the OP s right about how good music can sound outdoors where standing waves are gone--the good thi...

Equipment Location at First Reflection Point
@lowrider57  Very good question--actually it sounds great and i'm wondering if i'm chasing/inventing a problem that isn't there;  the only way to know though would be to move the rack, place absorption and listen--not really practical b/c i have n...
GIK alternatives
No worries, Glenn--but this is not a bass trap--just a 4" absorption panel.  And sorry about calling you "GKI".  Best wishes on getting all sorted out...
GIK alternatives
Your post reminded me that i needed another absorption panel behind my listening position having damaged the previous.  Although i've done business with GKI, instead i ordered this one from ATS, yesterday.  It shipped today !!  I haven't done busi...
Equipment Location at First Reflection Point
Vinyl isn't an issue--the TT is not on the rack and is located in a base null on the same wall toward the front but not in the corner.  That would be the ideal location for the rack but then the TT would have to be at the first reflection point.  ...
Best double live vinyl?
Actually wrong on that--7 performances; 2 venues
Best double live vinyl?
I'm on the Little Feat train-- but tossup with Live at Fillmore East @goofyfoot:  Waiting for Columbus was recorded at 4 different venues
God doesn't need to know what time it is.
One of the things i like about Rolex (although i don't own one) and part of what makes them popular among celebs is that Rolex is a 100% non-profit charitable institution--always has been.  Good on them.  Although watch collecting seems silly to m...

@secretguy:  You and I agree on many things but sadly you are way off on Clapton.  Most of the great respected guitarists of all time (Albert Lee, Yngwee Malmsteen, Joe Bonamassa etc) all say Clapton is a fabulous improvisational talent and blues ...
