Jolida jd-502p
First, I'm no gentleman. Second, instead of wasting my $$$ on vintage tubes I'm merely enjoying my inexpensive, although perhaps not properly designed, Jolida. Apparently the rapidly aging triodes sound great. Who knew? WU KNEW!

I'm poking around for Jolida input/driver tube options also...Just to throw some other opinions in there, Michael Allen at Jolida likes the (expensive-ish) Phillips Mini Watts, and Jolida Jerred likes GEs. I have reservations about buying older NO...
KT120 transformer failures
Interesting post there Trelja...My Sovtek "brand" kt88s are produced at the same New Sensor factory as my sets of Tung Sol 6550s and kt120s, and they (the kt88s) sound GREAT...upon close physical inspection using my watery and often reddened eyeba...
Fuses that matter.
Nothing beats a "realistic" soundstage. However, if my soundstage became more realistic my agoraphobia (not to be confused with "angoraphobia", an irrational fear of certain sweaters) would set in, and nobody wants that. To test fuses, I think you...

Correction: SOVTEK kt88s, NOT Svetlana. I miss-Russianed.
Fuses that matter.
Bryoncunningham...maybe you put 'em in backwards.

If the "world is your oyster", I think the proper term should be "current bed" instead of "crop.", unless this world is a single oyster, in which the scenario would be cramped and a little fishy.
Frequency Response?
A 5 string bass with a low B string creates, at least at the fundamental tone, a 31hz signal...using test tones I've found that my system (including a sub) easily reproduces that frequency, and a nice test is the bass note at the beginning of Dona...
Speaker Cable Different for 8ohm vs 4ohm
I find that using shorter speaker cables lessons the ability of the cables to actually physically reach to the location of my speakers, resulting in a distortion-free, low noise, utter lack of any sound at all.
Fuses that matter.
The alleged benefits of the Nano fuse are obviated by my ability to buy 6 new CDs, several LPs ( I get nice used ones locally), or years of ear wax removal kits for my $60...and that's just one fuse. If there was a "fuse loaner" program out there ...
KT120 transformer failures
My KT88s were an impulse purchase at a local "DIY" place and they're sets of "matched pair" Svetlanas...I think Svetlana has an OK reputation and in any case they weren't expensive (same Russian factory also). I think the KT120s have a little more...

Jedinite24...did you stick the KT120s in yet? Mine keep getting better...not sure if they've peaked yet, but they likely have. Also, I discovered that some new tubes have a "new tube burning smell" that I thought might be the Jolida frying until I...
Meldhau, Raitt
Yeah...I limit myself to mostly redbook CDs or lossless files into an upsampling DAC (or LPs), but both of these (only mentioned together because they arrived at about the same time) seem to have superior sonics, and music!

Rockpile...man...back in the late 60's early 70's a friend got a "Love Sculpture" album. Period appropriate blazing over the top blues/rock guitar, and later I find out that was the young Dave Edmonds.

Little Village is the coolest "super group nobody's heard of" EVER. Great album.
