kt77 vrs kt120 in Rogue M180s
My personal crusade to catalog KT120s destroying a transformer or damaging an amp continues...so far all of the transformers all over the world are surviving, including my Jolida 502p after thousands of hours over a year and a half. But I remain e...
New KT150 tubes?
Yeah...after 3000 plus hours I think these are starting to break in...by next June they should be gettin' real good.
New KT150 tubes?
My KT120s must have more than 3000 hours on them by now, and no signs of drifting bias or sonic issues yet...they still sound strong.
Record clamps: do they really make a difference.
I bought a Mitchell record clamp for my Linn/Akito rig last year and I think it sounds better with it...plus it makes me feel better knowing it's there, I think I'm a better person for going to the trouble of buying it, and the table looks cooler....
What's under your sub?
I have my front firing REL on the wood floor in a smallish corner (formed by a gas faux fireplace) behind a main speaker...simple pads on it so it doesn't scratch the wood, and it works for me so I've never even tried any other way. I do put my ma...
Floorstanders designed to be against the wall?
HA...good call on the date of the post!
Need a very neutral interconnect-
A background lacking hifi reproduction gear generated noise is all this should mean. I want to hear the glass clinking Madmen era laughing drunk ass NY crowd at the Bill Evans show...or the cool man low hum of anticipation at a symphony...the room...
Need a very neutral interconnect-
So now I'm NOT an idiot? So confusing...anyway...None of the "high end" salons in my Near Boston area had a din cable to fit my Akito arm. Lame but true. The Jelco cable looked great (Ebay) and has a well made gold din plug, nice gold RCAs, and sa...
How do I break in a tube amplifier?
I don't monitor the warmup of my tube amp because it's generally on providing background music from the moment I start my day until I can get around to doing some "active listening." I can comment of guitar tube amps though, because when I plug in...
Need a very neutral interconnect-
Bo never ceases to amaze (or simply never ceases), and please, do not let him in the room with the musicians.
McIntosh C 220 Pre amp tubes...
I don't think old tubes necessarily sound better these days as a lot of new stuff from Russia and China have stepped up and are less expensive. I do use a pair of UK made Mullard 12AT7s (CV 4024) which provide an entertaining flare up when initial...
Need a very neutral interconnect-
Although I don't actually understand the post from Bo, I feel I have to object to it anyway...really...somebody has to.
How do I break in a tube amplifier?
No...do not play the amp until you've rested your ears for at least 112 minutes, you've cleaned up around the amp to avoid the dreaded "dust particle comb filtering", and you're made sure all the neighbors have shut down any major appliances. Then...
Amp is plugged to the wall, why use a conditioner?
Knghifi...you are wrong my friend (and what you do with your strangled personal parts is between you and your urologist), and that's exactly why I mentioned it. Did you miss the part where I said my system sounds great? A basic understanding of cu...
Amp is plugged to the wall, why use a conditioner?
My Adcom ACE 515 I bought new about 127 years ago keeps on truckin'. I run everything from it including a PS Audio Humbuster III that the 2 amps (a tube amp for main listening and a rarely used SS for outdoor deck entertainment). I did stick PS Po...
