Good value for money speaker cables around $200 I bought a pair of used AQ Type 8s that are a well designed grouping of 8 spiraled solid core conductors made of AQs highest quality copper, and they sound amazing. I've scored a lot of great cables here and there for a fraction of what they, or a...
So sub or not to sub I don't suffer baloney well after decades as a professional in the music business, and that includes nonesense such as woofer "speed" in reproduction of low frequencies, many (not all) theoretical or supposed scientific explanations of why somethi...
Right angle IEC power cable Audioquest has well made right angle IEC adapters in both directions...they work well, and aren't expensive.
So sub or not to sub You have to move the sub around to get it right...walls and corners can be your friend in what you hear at your listening spot, and a single sub works in MY room because I'm lucky. Dr. Earl Geddes claims (more or less) that one's taste (or opinion...
The reviews of the Harbeth Monitor 30 or 30.1? Absolute Sound and 6 Moons both reviewed the 30.1 this year. http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/harbeth5/1.htmlhttp://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/harbeth-monitor-301-loudspeaker/
So sub or not to sub Get a used REL if you are cost sensitive (or even if you're not) as they leave your main speakers unmolested yet enhanced, not unlike my cousin Shirley. You don't need the greasy digital fingers of "bass management" wrapped around the throat of yo...
New KT150 tubes? Cheapest 150s I've seen are $300 for a quad.
New KT150 tubes? I can't imagine my amp sounding better than it does with 120s, and unless an amp is designed around the 150s to be more powerful I don't see spending the bucks on 150s...thus 120s become a serious bargain.
New KT150 tubes? Icon Audio is already featuring 'em. They sort of beat everybody to the punch with those.
To Tube or not to Tube...... Don't leave any amp on if you're not using it (except maybe when you leave the room for under four minutes), especially a tube amp that wastes considerable juice when idle...break it in by listening to it or you won't have any idea that it broke in.
Advice on selecting a tube amp The oceans are full of junk from "urban sprawl" and weather is getting more extreme from climate change...enjoy!
To Tube or not to Tube...... Score one for Jolida...now if they would update their website from 2010...
KEF LS50 Need Help Yes there IS a substitute to a "well designed full range speaker"...adding well designed sub to your KEFs! After all, a "full range" speaker is a speaker with a built in sub of some sort, powered or otherwise. An advantage I've found with my REL i...
KEF LS50 Need Help Get a good sub...you only need one and a well designed sub can (and should) audibly disappear. They don't have to be expensive (I bought a used REL and it's astonishing), and they can make main speakers seem to open up big time.
To Tube or not to Tube...... The ARC amp seems like a really sweet deal and I bet the thing sounds great. That particular model amp is way cool. Resale value has merit, and I think well maintained used gear is always the way to go if it's discounted enough, as that amp seems ... |
