Did you know....? Graham Parsons' real name was Cecil Conner III, and he was a rich kid Harvard (one semester) dropout.
Best Class A Amp under $2,000 used? Get a pair of clean efficient speakers and a good single ended tube amp as I recently did, and stop chasing watts…my current rig sounds better than anything I’ve had in my home in over 50 years of audio fun…it’s simply funner, and more dynamic som...
8K for a one-time listen? I checked out their Devialet's site, and they're offering their recordings as "normal" vinyl copies for a 99 bucks or so, and the lacquers are simply another option offered for reasons only known to them, although ya gotta hand it to their marketi...
Golden ear triton 1 vs tekton double impact speakers Kenny…the recycled ribbon thing was simply a little joke…sorry man…
Recommended Speaker List for Atma-Sphere OTL Amplifiers. Note on these amps, although I've never heard these amps I think I saw one as a prop in a Frankenstein movie…possibly one of the most retro designs out there…cool. Also Atmasphere the person posts smart stuff here frequently.
Golden ear triton 1 vs tekton double impact speakers I recently bought a pair of Sonist Recital 3s as I was looking for more efficient speakers to allow a single ended lower power scheme (scheme…yeah man). They're fabulous sounding and built to a very high standard with solid poplar cabs, fancy wire...
Considering switching from Audio Research to PrimaLuna, troube with VS115 amp The Rogers stuff is guaranteed for life, but less expensive amps (my Inspire SEP was around 1200 bucks) would have to be repaired 8 times or so to make up the difference in cost. I don’t care how "precious" the "parts in a box" are claimed to be, ...
What are some of the downsides of owning a Magneplanar .7 or 1.7i ? The biggest issue with Maggies is sauce stains from food fights that can break out at any time in a listening room. Otherwise, they're great. Note there's a restaurant nearby that has hung MGAs on the walls (several actually, supposedly to enterta...
Should I build plinths or screw spikes into cabinet? "Drain Vibrations Away" is an obscure Dead song…note the "pods" under my speakers don't drain anything so much as they keep the vibration from the bases of the speakers cabinets out of the oak (technically turning vibration into heat, although it'...
phasel linear 400 The point is the fact that this thread is pointless, which somebody pointed out.
Might changing cables require repositioning of speakers? Only if the new cables are too damn short…I hate that.
Harbeth SLH5 plus. Top or bottom binding post? Fuse directionality doesn't matter at all. AC, half inch teeny wire, and it's designed to melt. I've never hooked AQ wire up backwards but hey…if it got geoffkait off my back to perhaps stalk somebody else...
Which Budget Friendly Floorstanders Next? Sonist Recital 3s were just added to my rig…ribbon tweeter, efficient, wood (weirdly, but 100% Poplar cabinets…no MDF, no veneer), sound fabulous.
Harbeth SLH5 plus. Top or bottom binding post? Ran into Bill Low recently and he said when single wiring with jumpers it CAN matter which post you use…who knew? Bill knew (!)…My previous speakers were single wired due to the designer's recommendation (Alan Yun, Silverline Prelude speakers), an...
phasel linear 400 To add to a pointless thread: A friend knew Gene Cerwinski and had a pair of home speakers with a 15 and a tweeter…late 60s. Interesting if somewhat overkill speakers for his small cabin. That Acoustic 360 beast of a bass amp became the ubiquitous ... |
