Tube types
The Telefunken E88CC has much longer life (10,000 hrs vs 2000 hrs) and sounds fuller and smoother than the ECC88.  I had ARC SP-9 MKII and MKIII.  The E88CC sounded better in the MKIII, the ECC88 better in the MKII.
Best budget streamer on the market now?
I received my Node 2i today. It was challenging at first getting it to network up. iPad users may find it useful that joining the Node to the WiFi network is done by adding the Node under “add Airplay speaker” in the iPad settings. The routers WiF...
Phono Preamp
Herron.  I have the phono pre for a year and the line pre for 100 hours.  Incredible.
Exploring Preamp options for the Pass XA25
I have 100 hours on a Herron VTSP-360 and it's settled in and opened up.  It adds tube magic and really shows what the XA-25 can do.  Speed, power, dynamics, and finesse without breaking a sweat.
Most annoying song, period.
Bobby McFerrin - "Don't Worry, Be Happy"I like it.  EVERYONE I've played it for has stuck their finger in their throat and made the "I'm gagging" face.
Pass XA25 or Pass XA 30.8
I have my XA-25 for two years. I love it with AZ Crescendo 2’s (90 dB). A wireless REL S/5 SHO takes care of the very bottom end. Perfect.  Never tried the 30.8, it won't fit my rack (Symposium 3-leg).
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
geoffkait,"not all EM waves require a conductor."The 7.83 Hz one does."As for the current and the wave - the current is the wave. Wave hello!"Sure.  So how does that wire confined "wave" broadcast into the room? hello!?
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
geoffkait,I understand.  My point being broadcast electromagnet spectrum vs that which requires a conductor to propagate (DC to sub radio.)   Yes, electromagnetic audio frequencies can be transmitted through wire but there is no wave transmitted, ...
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
geoffkait,"Acoustic waves are on a different spectrum."  That's the root of my question.  Below radio frequencies is the ultrasonic, sonic and subsonic, none of which can be broadcast without an electromagnetic carrier frequency.  Does that not pr...
Why Do Schumann Resonators Work?
I’m sure puzzled.  Isn’t everything below radio frequency an electromagnetic field, no wave involved?  I can understand a wave modulated at 7.83 Hz but transmitted?
Is soundstaging emblematic of reality?
Rvpiano+1, Soundstaging and imaging insure that the musicians are in the room.  Expression and interplay insure they are interesting.
Is soundstaging emblematic of reality?
I’ll leave necessary or not up to the listener. I do know that as a beginner I lost sight of satisfaction and got trapped into upgrading into what soundstaged and imaged better. It’s a pitfall so beginner beware. I feel now satisfaction first, ima...
Quality Internet Radio Tuner
I have the WFT-1.   It has a pleasant, mellow sound but is not an audiophile piece by any measure.  It's for background and does good job at it.  A Bluesound Node 2i is on order.  Should be fun.
Which amp for Vandersteen 3As?
In my many years as a 3A owner, a high current amp with a prominent midrange worked best. The 3A’s have a big sound but musical drive is easily drained. You’ll want the tightest bass possible. Shy away from tube sound emulators.Try them all and th...
VPI Uni-Pivit Tone Arms
As mentioned, the pivot spike is replaceable.  Meanwhile a fine file can de-bur the tip or sharpen it.  If you're using a Fozgometer, stop.  You may find setting azimuth with a block similar to thishttps://www.amazon.com/VTA-Azimuth-Gauge-Alignmen...
