Need highly transparent detailed amp---how does Pass XA25 compare to Gamut D100/D200 MKIII
I've owned the Xa-25 for 3 years now and love it still. Super quick, quiet, micro detail (class A to 50 W) and as dynamic as all get-out.  Cable swaps are easily heard - nothing in the way.  Plenty of power with 90 dB, 6 Ohm speakers.  I'll bet Te...
Should a reference speaker be neutral, or just great sounding?
“I guess I always thought of "reference" as being similar to laboratory grade, like a precision scale”When we can measure what makes a speaker a good listen, it will be.
Should a reference speaker be neutral, or just great sounding?
Reference can be a comparative opinion, imperfect but state-of-the-art, or a calibration standard.  All of it applies to speakers.  Do I want exceptional beauty?  Do I want to enjoy the unenjoyable?  Of course I do.  I want both.  Reference gear s...
Beware: New (at least to me) scam being run on Audiogon members
It must be a scam.  ; )
Pass XA 25 versus Parasound A21+ - anyone compare?
The Xa-25 sounds like no other Pass amp, "house sound" logic does not apply.  Hearing over assumption, always.
What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
I've scratched a few records.  Cussed like it was the end of the world.
Lots of bass at walls, lack of bass in center of room/listening position
I have a single 12” sub in an open ended approx 15x25 room.  My first location produced bass 20’ away but very little in the listening area.  Moving the sub only a foot and a half, close to a wall ( 4”) and experimenting with forward and side firi...
i finally figuared it out this is gonna sound crazy?
It’s only 7 out of 10 on the audio crazy scale.
You know you are an Audiophile when:
Your neighbor demos his stereo and it sounds pretty darn good for a relative pittance and you wonder what am I wasting my cash on.  Ten minutes later your ears and brain adjust, you are reminded exactly why, compile an extensive list and bite your...
Who has heard the new Pass XA25?
I think uncolored is a more accurate description.  A nice signal in gets nice sound out.  If you're adjusting for what the room or gear does to the mids, then, yes, this is not your amp.

+1 for Wireworld Mini Electra
KOETSU VERMILION and audio research PH7
Well, I checked here https://upscaleaudio.com/products/koetsu-urushi-vermillionbut their info is wrong. Bad luck. Please consider that your $6000 PH-7 is about 12 years old and performs very poorly against today’s offerings at half the price.
KOETSU VERMILION and audio research PH7
The Urushi Vermillion spec is .4 mv so would work.  If .2 mv it would not.  I owned the PH-7 for years so the answer is easy - upgrade the phono pre instead.  I went Herron and it spanked the poor old PH-7 (NOS Telefunkens) without mercy.
Audio Research REF 3 worth buying today?
I owned the Ref 3 for 6 years.  It has a low noise floor, tight bass and even response.  Lacks enthusiasm, dynamics and speed for rock.  Good at intimate/small venue.
Suggestion for phono preamp in sub 2k price to complement Rega Planar 8 with Apheta 3 MC
I use a Herron vtph-2A with a Rega RP-10 and Apheta 2. Fantastic. Would be very near your range used.
