zu essence?
I've owned both the Essence and the Druid MkIV/08. From a certain point of view, the Essence is a better all around speaker. Less finicky placement, better low end grunt and better high frequency extension. My expectation was that it would be a Dr...

Best Late Night Low Volume Speaker
Regarding First Watt, this is by Nelson Pass of Pass Labs who is a pretty well known designer.Audition pairs of the Zu Soul have been requested by three different reviewers who contribute to Stereophile. Also, the Zu Essence was featured on the co...
Best Late Night Low Volume Speaker
Zu Soul Superfly with First Watt J2 amplifier. Everything comes alive at fairly low volume.
Zu Soul Superfly
The rule of thumb is 10:1, that is, the input impedance is 10x the output impedance between the two components. I've also heard the rule of thumb is 20:1, but hey, it's a rule of thumb right, so the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, somew...
Moderate Priced Integrated Amp
Virtue Audio. The One, the Two or the Sensation. Get one of the upgraded power supplies, perhaps the JT Dynamic or Astron, and you're in business.
Who OWNS Zu Audio Speakers- Especially Definition
I misunderstood, thought it was an AVR, not separates.Having said that, it doesn't change my opinion by all that much. The Sonic Impact is a T-Amp, and I think the T-Amps punch way above their weight assuming you pair them with appropriately effic...

I think all you've shown is that the Rotel AVR is no better than the little Sonic Impact T-Amp that you have, which is quite frankly not at all surprising.I think most of the two channel people here (that's almost everyone right?) will tell you th...

I've never heard anything good out of a combo integrated + DAC, although perhaps the Peachtree is good as it seems to get some favorable reviews. But if $370 is considered expensive for the Virtue, then I think you'll have a difficult time of this....

I would suggest something from Virtue Audio. Likely to be loads better than anything from Onkyo or Harmon. The Virtue One or Two will meet your integrated amp needs, and they have a new DAC on the way.
Budget integrated ideas: budget $650
Take a look at some of the new stuff from Virtue Audio.
Anyone else tried the Acoustic Systems Liveline?

All out assault in a 11x15 room
I have a similiar room to yours, although slightly larger. Recommend something from Zu or Omega Loudspeakers. As for amplification, I'm a big fan of Red Wine Audio.

Is this a reasonable Audiophile Mac-based Server?
To my ears, the Benchmark is extremely accurate, but also edgy, sterile, and overly analytical. The Cosecant by comparison and without any harshness gets tone and timbre right, and is musical and involving. The Cosecant is better; no contest, and t...
