Horn based loudspeakers why the controversy?
@roxy54 "I have never heard any of the discontinued Palladiums, but I have noted that there have not been a single pair of any of them for sale on the used market in the US for months now...I've been looking. I think that says something about thei...
Horn based loudspeakers why the controversy?
"The Palladium series did look like fine products, but they apparently didn’t compete with conventional speakers well."They did not compete well mainly because of price points.  At $20,000 msrp for the P-39Fs, these were a huge step up for Klipsch...
Horn based loudspeakers why the controversy?
No current Klipsch offerings are "high end" but most of the Heritage sure can "pretend" to be "high end".Now their now discontinued Palladium line was as close to "high end" as you can go.  The P-39F was one fine speaker.Bill
Any deals on klipsch speakers
Heresy III, Forte III or any of the previous generations of them.  I listen to both my Heresy I's and Heresy II's without a subwoofer and for most music they are plenty but a "musical" sealed sub to fill in the lower register is a plus.Bill
Yamaha A-S701
I wish I could tell you from experience about the A-S701 but I can about the A-S1000.  Built like vault, quiet as a mouse, very "accurate" or let's say natural in it's presentation.  IMO, no over emphasis in any part of the frequency range.  Just ...
Integrated amp for Klipsch Forte
I suggest you look at the Yamaha A-S801 if you want a built in DAC, other wise the Yamaha A-S1000 or A-S2000.  All have plenty to drive the Forte, are dead quiet and from my experience spot on neutral. The A-S801 has a very well designed variable l...
New CDP or standalone DAC...?
The Oppo makes for a fine transport.  Get a good DAC.Bill
I would like to hook my satellite box to my oppo udp-205 for two channel audio
My understanding is that digital coax will be cleaner because optical is not really recommended for long runs unless your run is about as straight as a ruler.Bill
stereo receiver recommendations
@artemus_5 Most of my experience with the Luxman receivers(R-115, R-117) has been with Klipsch Heresy I's, Heresy II's, Fortes and Quartets.  All a minimum of 96dB efficient and easy to drive with no stress or strain on the Luxmans.  Most experien...
Looking for suggestions for a new (to me) pair of high efficiency monitors
http://images.klipsch.com/RB81IIcutsheet_635042118979170000.pdf"Not to disparage low cost speakers but always thought of this line as mass market HT stuff? How do they sound compared to traditional Klipsch Heritage Series Heresy III?"Of course the...
Spearit Sound Inventory
"I know Safe & Sound in Chicopee took over as the NAD dealer."It does look like they may have bought Spearit Sounds NAD inventory.  Their NAD ads on Audiogon look very similar to Spearits Sound's.  Bill

I definitely would say the R-117 is legendary.  It is one special piece that came along after the 70's receiver wars.  Not the most beautiful looking, somewhat industrial in appearance, but the sound sure is beautiful.  I kick myself every time I ...
Need Recommendations on a CD Player
Do yourself a favor and grab one of these.https://www.audiogon.com/listings/cd-sacd-players-nad-c-546bee-w-manufacturers-warranty-authorized-d...I own the older C542 and it is the best sounding player(to me) I have ever owned and that is in compar...
Need Recommendations on a CD Player
Send it in for repair estimate.  Most diagnose for anywhere from $50.00 to $75.00 and then weigh out the cost of repairs against buying something else.Bill
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what?
The RB-81II's are pretty big sounding for "bookshelf" speakers and can be driven pretty well with 60w/ch.  Before you pull the trigger on those, look on the used market for a pair of RB-75's.  They will command a higher price but you will get real...
