It is not about cable quality anymore, it is about the sheer number of them!
@erik_squires - I know where you are coming from :-)I had a HT surround system and found it too complexWe have just moved, so I took the opportunity to check out a different approach.I ended up with...- VMedia TV Box for streaming TV content,  Net...
Audio stands for Turntable and amp isolation ?
Thre best rack/stand I have used to date is from Lovan - cost around $400 for a 4 shelf unitIt's their entry level stand similar to this one...http://www.lovanaudiogroup.com/sovereign-series.htmlBut buying the stand was only the begining...- I add...
KLE Innovations Silver HarmonyRCA's - not silver eh?
@ypingping - the difference between the various models is in the thickness of the silver coating. But it's not just about the thickness of the silver coating - KLE Innovations has complex formulas for each plug that pertains to the construction of ...
DIY Power cables: quality wire?
I have not tried any of the Cardas cables. For epaker cables and IC's I have tried Van den Hul. They are pretty good and very nidely made.About the same quality as Furutech
DIY Power cables: quality wire?
I’ve trierd two furutech bulk cables and preferred the bulk cables from DH Labs - mainly because they are 1/3rd the price and the difference between them musically is subtleDH Labs are built for home audio environments - low EMI/RFI and no liquids...
What is the most important component in your system.
My cables !!! - without them nothing would work :-)Seriously - my cables are still the most important component.- they allow the components to work as designed- extract EVERY ounce of performance from each component- they are responsible for the s...
Phono stage inquiry
I only hear a little hiss on my Simaudio Moon LP5.3 RS when the volume is at the max. That doesn't mean you phono has an issue - all phono stages are different.Have you tried this with JUST the phono stage connected?- i.e. assuming you have other c...
How do you think this AC power will be?
@elizabeth - I have to agree with you WRT it being difficult to maintain uniformity for the length of the cableHowever I have adapted my braid as follows...attach the three conductors to the IEC connectorPlug the connector into an unused component...
How do you think this AC power will be?
@todd1010 -  My experience has been that 12 gauge is large enough for lower power components - DAC's Streamers.I tried a 10 gauge on my DAC and it proved to be no more effective than the 12/13 gauge cables I had.I have a 12/13 gauge cable on my ...
How do you think this AC power will be?
@todd1010 - for your mono blocks...- I would use a single 10 gauge Mil-Spec for the live-  2 x 12 gauge Mil-Spec for the neutral (i.e. 9 Gauge combined total )- 1 12 gauge Home depot wire for the groundWRT the DH Labs cables you have made - they r...

@dmance...  I think we just don’t know enough about electricity  Interestingly - I believe you are not wrong.I spoke with an "electronics technician" that repaired a friends solid state amp which "self destructed" due to the speaker cables he had...
Power Cables
@wmarkhall - as stated in my first post - components with large, well designed cords do not show as much in the way of improvements, compared to those components with smaller power supplies, such as source components.WRT ... explain to us how thi...
Power Cables
@wmarkhall - I’ll attempt to address your questions in order, but some answers overlap...what part --specifically-- inherent to the "advanced" power cable enables it to allow more power from the station / to the pole / over the lines / into your h...
Power Cables
Here’s the thing - Powerful transient signal demands - such as the crack of a side drum or the slam of a bass can draw significantly more power than the 5.21 amps sisyphus51 calculated BUT only for very brief moments in time. However, they do cont...
