Flexibilty - If I were to hard wire, then trying different power cables down the road becomes more of a chore. When I find a reasonable silver conductor I would like to try it with minimal fuss.AND - a/b comparisons are much faster :-) The xlr con...
Cheap tweaks...What would YOU reccomend?
So my previous post may have been a bit misleading and I have learned the errors of my ways :-) Turns out the improvements I achieved was due to the additional effective mass I had added by adding a headshell weightHowever - the last item . Epoxy ...

Wolf - did you find that using the Pangea caused the 640p and the Dacmagic to run cooler? My 640p is now at room temp (cool to the touch) and the dacmagic runs at about half the temp it used to.Both units are powered on 24/7

Raul - agreed "sound better" is subjective to the listener The changes l have made sound better to me - all I am suggesting to forum readers is that trying this is not a huge expense for which they may achieve a "perceived" audible, improvement.Wi...

Here is one of the sites I referenced that made me think about proceeding down this pathhttp://www.basisaudio.com/docs/tnm_vcr_mtw_specs.pdfI'm not saying its correct - I'll leave that to the reader :-) There is a tendency to believe that the tone...
Cambridge 640P Power Supply Upgrade
Quality power cords are paramount and one thing that I found improved the sound a lot was replacing the fuses I originally used with small push button breakers - and a nice case :-) The first attempt was a 12v lighting transformer - it improved th...
Best Counterweight Position?
I have read posts on other forums that also support moving the weight to attain a better sound. Further back for higher mass arms and closer to the pivot point for lower mass arms. I do agree that adding weight/mass to my arm would bring the reson...
Cheap tweaks...What would YOU reccomend?
Move the counterbalance weight on your tone arm back. Yes, you have to use a headshell weight to do this, but I found the improvements were well worth it - more detailed bass, smoother highs, more spacious soundstage. An interim step in order to ge...

Cheap tweaks...What would YOU reccomend?
I just installed a Pass and Seymour 20 amp MRI grade (i.e. no magnetic materials used) 120v outlet. To my surprise it made a noticeable difference to the details and sound stage image - mainly due to it clamping the pins of the plug like a vice.At...
