Local pickup for speakers - should I let the buyer in the house or use the the garage? The OP should clearly not be selling speakers for local pickup. Full stop. If I were the buyer and arrived at your home being treated like a potential criminal, I'd walk. The guy spoke to you on the phone and is paying cash. And you avoid th...
Your first concert was to see who and when? Air Supply, 1980 at Luther College (not the hall Dave Matthews recorded at). 10 years old.
Darko nailed it. 12 examples of wishful thinking in the hi-fi community Can anyone do a quick recap list of the 12 things for those of us who listen to music instead of watching Youtube? @jond Jon, it's a print article. Enjoy! I would add: 13. Buying a well-reviewed product by a reviewer you admire will be a per...
What are the most balanced relatively neutral cartridges at each price level ? I consider the Dynavector house sound to be neutral, and I moved from a 10X5 to 20XH, to a XX-2. Not too warm, not too bright.
What % Of Your System Are Your Cables? In my main rig, about 5%. In my bedroom rig about 33%, but In that system I spent a total of $220 combined on source and amp.
Review on Linear Tube Audio Aero DAC Hi @teajay , enjoyed the review. I see in your profile that you still own a Pass Labs D1 DAC. I own one also and I love it. Curious how you think it holds up today against the reference DACs you have reviewed recently?
Best speaker brands for transient response If you are after transients first and foremost I would take a long look at Zu Union 6. I audtioned some and the transient response was off the charts, but they can also be a bit picky with upstream gear. Luckily Zu gives you 60 days to audition.
Coherent speakers from Canada I still have my Coherent 10's from my earlier post 5 years ago, time flies! I also have a pair of Volti Razz. Both are excellent, fairly similar with some slight differences. Voltis dig deeper and tighter in the bass than the Coherents, and th...
Transparent Audio is anything but Transparent This thread has had some good comedy, thank you all. I think I would be a bit wary of buying used cable brands like Cardas and Audio Note that use rather plain looking outer sheaths, they just look too easy to forge. Not that cables need to have...
Volti does it again! I picked up a pair of Razz over the holidays from Greg. All I can say is all of the rave reviews from Doyle and other reviewers are spot on. I love my Coherent 10's but I wanted something that could play on a bigger scale but with refinement, an...
Can you provide context on First Watt? Pass Labs service is outstanding, possibly the best in the industry. I emailed Nelson a question about dimming bulbs on my SIT-2 and he shipped out replacement bulbs to me without my even asking. He even followed up to make sure I received them. ...
How To Keep Cat Off Stereo Equipment? +1 on upside down sticky tape, works great
Anyone heard new Zu Union 6? Reporting back to say I returned the Unions to Zu. They do improve with break in and did a lot of good things, but they were for a third system (I know). For the record I have Zu Defheads in my bedroom that I've listened to daily for the last 7 ...
Who has heard and can comment on any of these brands?? I have Coherent 10's. They are in my virtual system posted here. I'm not familiar with the other brands mentioned by the OP. Coherents will be in the high efficiency camp. Very easy to drive, outstanding clarity in the midrange, great imaging,...
Anyone heard new Zu Union 6? Mine are the standard version with Mission wire and ClarityCaps. I have them tight in the corners, maybe about 4 inches off the wall. Your walnut Unions look great, I wish I had gone that route. |
