Joseph Audio Pulsars
No doubt a great sub that is dialed in right can bring great monitors very close to full range -- assuming a modest sized room. The wife and I heard two different pairs of Pulsars at AXPONA in NYC, and we thought they were the best speakers we hea...

CD player to compete with my vinyl rig?
Rega Saturn. Buy used and it will fit your budget and your needs.
Burmester 001 or Audio Research cd 7
Alexatpos:I realize its two years since you posted this (with no response), but I'd be curious to know if you ever actually paired Burmester and/or the ARC CD-7 with the Inpol2, and if you did, what results? Thanks.
CDP Help -- Apollo vs Apollo-R vs Saturn
Can't comment on the Apollo or Apollo-R, but my office system has a Rega Saturn running through a vintage Pioneer SX1980 receiver (in excellent condition) and speakers are Linn Katan and Velodyne SPL-1000. Very pleasing results. The Saturn acquits...
best cd player to get??
There's an ARC CD-7 for sale here on the Gon right now, asking $4,295. That's an awesome value.
Newbie Needs McIntosh Help
For sure make the extra investment in the MA6600 for the fuller "McIntosh" sound and the extra power gives flexibility for future speaker changes, particularly as you are already considering moving to larger Diamonds. BTW, while the MCC201 is a ve...
Any "Deadhead" audiophiles out there to help
For true Phil Bombs, consider a (or, better, two) JL Audio F112 (or two F110s). Beyond that, and recognizing that you enjoy the surround/multi channel experience, if you are really looking to capture the live Dead sound, you should still consider ...
Best speakers in the 3000 -5000 range
Excellent suggestion by Realhifi on the Linn Akurate 242's. At $3,500 they are an incredible value, way underrated. Like the OP, I listen to a lot of classic rock (among lots of other music) with great results through the Akurate 212's (i.e., the ...
Hi Fi Dealers in NYC - where to find them?
Here's another nod to Innovative Audio. In my search for just-right monitors earlier this year, Bruce Deegan was informative and very accommodating. I did three separate, 2 1/2 hour auditioning sessions alone with the equipment and my own music, a...
Should I bother to try a subwoofer?
Interesting that JL Audio is not mentioned in this thread. The OP went with REL and is happy, congrats. No doubt REL produces a fine sub, but for anyone else considering (Mapman?) adding a sub to a fine pair of monitors: (1) absolutly do it, for a...
KEF Reference 201/2 and Vintage Pioneer SX-1250???
Bsambo59: I recently put together an alternate "weird combination" around vintage Pioneer and can report that you're onto something fun and potetially very rewarding to the ears. And of course your SX1250 dazzles the eye. My office system: Pioneer...
Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use?
Second the Rega Saturn. Gobs of crisp detail from stem to stern, but without the analytics, make for hours of fatigue-free musical delight.
