LaScala dac with telefunken tubes @designsfx I would be interested to hear your impressions of any differences between the two. As I mentioned, I am quite inexperienced with tubes, and my current hybrid amp and DAC are my first forays into that world. I don’t doubt that there ar...
Has anyone compared the Coda CSib to a Jeff Rowland Continuum S2? am sure in the ensuing decade, with successive iterations, the product has been improved sonically, but i have no desire to try again... i just feel with that brand, the money is put towards the sexy milled faceplate as much as the innards and ac...
LaScala dac with telefunken tubes I am using a La Scala DAC, and am delighted with it. I am not, however, a tube expert. FWIW, the reviewer Christian Punter, who hold the Aqua DACs in high regard, had this to say on the thread topic: As the manufacturer has specially selected t...
Has anyone compared the Coda CSib to a Jeff Rowland Continuum S2? Thanks for the responses thus far! I find it interesting that all have been focussed on Coda, and none on Jeff Rowland. I presume that the lopsided disparity is due at least in part to the fact that the latter is Class D, and many audiophiles rem...
Has anyone compared the Coda CSib to a Jeff Rowland Continuum S2? @jjss49 I'm still happy with the CL, but my favorite previous integrated was a first gen. Rowland Concentra, and I have always wondered about how his current models sound. As for the comparison in the thread title, I have seen the high praise ...
Cables to settle brightness Many recordings have a hot top end. What you are hearing is likely an accurate rendering of the recording. This may be true, and I agree that taking the recordings into account is very important when assessing a problem. I moved into a new home...
FIdelity Cables or Virtual Dynamics I used VD David speaker cables and XLRs for a number of years, and was very happy with them. They are stiff, but can be molded to adapt to different spaces. I bought them used, and for a reasonable price, and would be inclined to do so again if t...
This is purely subjective opinion. Aqua LaScala/ Atma-Sphere Class D But one does not need to paint flames onto the Pinto. 😂😂
Best DACs under $7,000.00 FWIW I actually owned, and forgot to mention, a Merason DAC-1 after the Pontus II, and found the Aqua to be superior in my system. I did like the sound of the Merason, but, like some professional reviewers, found it to be a touch too smooth. If I ...
This is purely subjective opinion. Aqua LaScala/ Atma-Sphere Class D Aren’t all opinions purely subjective? Purely? I wouldn’t say that. Opinions don’t appear in a vacuum. Some are well-supported by facts, while others are not. For example, if one person were to assert that DAC A is clearly better than DAC B, w...
Best DACs under $7,000.00 @pennfootball71 The Lampizator may well be a fine DAC, but your ludicrous characterization of the Aqua DACs raises serious questions about the value of your related opinions.
Best DACs under $7,000.00 @curiousjim Aqua claims approximately 10,000 hours, equivalent to two hours listening a day for 13 years. The tubes are not expensive, either.
This is purely subjective opinion. Aqua LaScala/ Atma-Sphere Class D @sbank I believe that you may be confusing two models. The current La Scala is the MkII, and I do not believe that there has ever been a MkIII. There is a La Voce S3, which is the latest in that line, but as you suggest the La Scala is widely cons...
This is purely subjective opinion. Aqua LaScala/ Atma-Sphere Class D She couldn’t believe how George Winston’s Steinway sounded. She said she’s never heard a Steinway reproduced that close before. BTW she has a Steinway Grand in her home. This is very interesting to me, as when I was asked early on to describe t...
Best DACs under $7,000.00 I went from the Pontus II to an Aqua La Scala Optologic, and found it to be a significant upgrade. I have not compared it with either a Terminator or Holo May, but have absolutely no interest in changing at this point. |
