@tomic601 - I've had the ML2s since around 2007, with a few trips to the Vlad-meister (none at unreasonable cost or time) and many tube set replacements later, they continue to amaze me at their ability to capture and convey what is in the signal....

Or, put another way, @three_easy_payments, if I had it to do all over again, what would I do? And I don't know the answer because part of where I am is where I've been. Somebody who listens to metal at crushing volumes is different than the chambe...

If I were approaching this without any prior background in music, hi-fi or consumer electronics (that one’s tough, most every one has a few appliances, but hobbyist audio is different, I think), I’m not sure I could make sense of much of it-- lots...

Nature of the Internet. This is a form of social engagement in addition to providing information. There are often dialogs within larger discussion threads between participants. Totally off topic- I’d look for a mod if you are a thread starter, sin...
Who will soon be going to a live concert?
@thecarpathian- not that I recall, though I know the song. I was blown away the first time I heard him---actually probably one of the last shows we went to before Covid. And this was the first show since Covid. So, that is an honor right there, I ...
The "variant" press?
@edcyn-  quite welcome, but I’m just a piker. There are people out there who devote their lives to this- I’m just scratching the surface on this one. I actually like to do research, and get pleasure from the process of trying to puzzle things out....
The "variant" press?
I’m not sure how much info you’d get with a deep dive into databases that have old Billboards, local news, etc. Could be researched, starting at your public library, I guess. It is a good sounding record.
Who will soon be going to a live concert?
We went to a small local venue last night to hear Marc Broussard and his band. Top notch performer, great band-- a sort of soul meets swamp rock thing. Good show, good venue.
The "variant" press?
Great record. I think I have a couple early pressings including a promo. I’ll have to look. As to your question of variants, I see this a fair amount with respect to small variations in credits and the like that otherwise don’t involve a different...
Why not copy the greats- vinyl LP question
@tablejockey- LZ1 was my original entry point to Zep at the time it was released and though there are some tracks on II that I like, the band’s first album is really the one I’m most attached to since it is very much blues based. Sadly, I don’t th...
Critical listening and altered states
I remember the listening scene from the '70s where I grew up (not far from hillbilly country) and what was a listening session was in reality a party, with bodies on the lawn the next morning. Thankfully, I wasn't one of them.I do most of my liste...
Sound-Smith retipping
Although Peter may perform a QC function on the work of those he employs, he also does the work himself. My Airtight Supreme was tired, cantilever somewhat canted and presumably the stylus was worn. It took Peter a while to get to it, but when he ...
Townshend Pods under TT Don’t Do
If you look at how the Minus K works, the chassis of the device itself is quite massive (I have the big bench top version). There are these vertical upside down pendulums that are holding the inner suspension in place but allow it to sway and the ...

@stringreen - I replied here to your post from the other thread.  Thus the deletion.
Townshend Springs under Speakers
@nonoise - I loved The Hidden. Same era as Repo Man. Changed my life. :)
