Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?

Act- RTI for sure; don't know if they used any others. I was addressing an earlier post that suggested MoFi had its own pressing plant. I don't buy many remasters or "audiophile" records these days, but of the 'new' MoFi's I have, the quality is g...

Precisely. And when the Lumber sexuals decide craft made beer and vinyls are out, where to next? :)

Ralph: I'm happy about the resurgence and the resulting renassiance in the art of making records. I hope it does continue, but I do think there is a degree of 'fashion' to all of this right now that may not be enduring. I'm OK with that too. I hun...

Here's a link to the series of related pieces on Canned Heat, including some background on the band, reviews of four albums of the "classic line-up," an extended interview with Skip Taylor, their long-time manager (whose own history in the biz is ...

Larry Taylor, the bass player, Fito, the drummer, Harvey Mandel has been in and out of the recent line-ups (he was at Woodstock b/c Vestine had quit the band at that time) and a couple others. I'll cover it when i post the piece on Monday.

I don't think MoFi owns its own pressing plant. The original ones were done, as you no doubt know, by JVC in Japan. I think they owned a US plant briefly in the '90s, before they went bankrupt. Now that Music Direct owns them, and rebooted the bra...

BDP- hang in there with me, I've got a great piece which should publish next week. I learned a lot by working on it. From what I am told, the band was amazing live, and is still out there in an obviously re-booted form. More soon, not trying to be...

I think the comment by the plant manager is really a reflection of the fact that it is a fairly old tech manufacturing business, and as the video suggested, lots of variables to keep all that stuff humming optimally. I don't care that he doesn't g...

I'm finishing a detailed and fairly exhaustive piece on Canned Heat, their ties to the blues "rediscovery" era with some album reviews and other goodies. I hope to have that posted soon. In the meantime, some capsules were just posted: a listen to...
Audiophile Boston pressing?
Sorry to reboot an old thread, but I'm listening to a Wally pressing of the self-titled album, and this is just a superb recording of hard rock.
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Bdp: I have no issue with your tone but I think technical proficiency has to be mixed with soul or something that conveys emotion. Maybe less of an issue with drummers since I tend to like good jazz drummers playing rock better than a lot of rock ...

Correction for Ghost; that eBay copy was not play graded but visually graded, and re-reading the listing not all sides have the same lacquers. so I'd keep looking.
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Ghost- I checked this morning, my copy, early ATCO, was done at Presswell (PR) and has 'A' lacquers on all four sides of the deadwax. I don't know how I happened into this copy- it is one touted on the Hoffman board (which is a great resource if y...
