SME 309 Tonearms: Production Years and Variations Of the five SME arms I own, only the most recent, a 309 purchased during the year before they stopped selling arms, has the coloured logo. It is also the only one with serial # information on the box, stickered on. My arms go back to the 80s. T...
Anyone ever replaced a tweeter in B&W Formation Duo speaker Mine was not that expensive, maybe a couple hundred at most. The diamond tweets are a lot higher though. Bill
Anyone ever replaced a tweeter in B&W Formation Duo speaker I don't know how applicable this is, but I have replaced a tweeter on one of my N801s which have a similar looking mounting on the top of the enclosure. The replacement was pretty easy. The rim around the front of the tweeter housing is a twist-...
Do I need a MC cartridge now? Or an attenuator? Oops. Too late. Bill
Do I need a MC cartridge now? Or an attenuator? I agree with the above comments. However, the Laiv L-Ext Phono does have a 47k setting. Bill
B&W Matrix 800: Bi-amping thoughts? And, I was surprised to find that when the monoblocks were in play, even lower volumes sounded more filled out. sorry for the double posts, but I'm kind of a slow thinker. Bill
B&W Matrix 800: Bi-amping thoughts? I can only speak about my own experience. My N801s are 91db. The recommended power range is 50 to 1000 watts. Using my 300 watt amp, volume levels would go high (SPL) but the bass just didn't keep up. I think a high power high current amp is w...
B&W Matrix 800: Bi-amping thoughts? I forgot to add that those are wonderful speakers. You are a lucky person. Bill
B&W Matrix 800: Bi-amping thoughts? I agree with the similar caliber, but you would want more power if you want the bass to really do what it can. Those speakers are rated to 800 watts power handling capability and while you don't need 800 watts, you will want more than 100 watts, ...
McIntosh mp 100 Phone Preamp Problem.... Blinking Red Power Button I always power down before changing connections. To me, it only increases bad possibilities to not do so. That is a pretty nice phono stage. Once repaired it should serve you well. Good luck. Bill
McIntosh mp 100 Phone Preamp Problem.... Blinking Red Power Button Maybe a dumb question, but was the Mcintosh powered up during the interconnect switch? Bill
Ceramic cartridge phono stage options? @elliottbnewcombjr Maybe not. Reading further, By applying the correct reverse equaliaztion and level shifting, the CerMag takes the high output from a ceraming or crystal phono cartridge and changes it to match that of a moving magnet phono...
Connecting McIntosh Preamp to Yamaha AS 3200 - Do I use both XLR Bal 1 and Bal 2? If you already tried using the RCA mains input on the Yamaha and weren't satisfied with the result, I will agree that a power amplifier with XLR inputs is probably the best solution. Bill
Connecting McIntosh Preamp to Yamaha AS 3200 - Do I use both XLR Bal 1 and Bal 2? You would also need to set your volume control on the Yamaha to full volume. Bill
Connecting McIntosh Preamp to Yamaha AS 3200 - Do I use both XLR Bal 1 and Bal 2? After looking at the manual pictures, I would say that it isn't really set up for using the XLR inputs as you would like. There are RCA preamp outs and amp ins that would normally be used if the preamp and amp sections are separated. If you use ... |
