Why vinyl?
Ihcho, I buy a lot of new vinyl, as much of it in my opinion is very good. I also buy good old unopened vinyl, and mint used. I find life is to short for crappy beatup vinyl to experiment. Are people buying new vinyl, if you read my post early on ...
Why vinyl?
While I know much specialty vinyl is 25-50 bucks, don't forget Sundazed for instance, at 15-18 bucks for good sounding vinyl, also the last Van Morrison, Willie Nelson, and Bob Dylan were super cheap for the quality of the vinyl I got. Seems like ...
Why vinyl?
Well, I question myself all the time after getting back into vinyl 2 years ago. Should I dump the Lp's and table, and just get some kind of higher end SACD/Cd player, as I have a bunch of both. Then as the other day, I do a self test. Recently it w...
VPI Scout vs. HW 19
There are opinions both ways. My 19 has a Scout platter and a SAMA Motor. I am playing with some options, actually have the stuff here to do it with, changing the plint to a steel/corian mixture. I think you certainly can play around more with a 1...
VPI HW 19 - replacing springs with pucks or cones
Not to mention it was a joke, but basically a 1400 is a plinth in the air on 3 posts, that was all I was saying, in refernce to what opal was doing. It was almost like you were wanting to discuss the superiority of the Basis 1400, and if that is t...
VPI HW 19 - replacing springs with pucks or cones
Frank, if you take away the base, you would have a Basis 1400 !!! Which is just a plinth sitting an 3 posts !! That would be a Basis HW-19.Where did you finally get the noodles, and how big around were they ? Mike at VPI told me about them a year ...
Audioquest PT Arm Damping Fluid
Mark, another good answer from Pryso. Jelso has just released a new tone arm they are selling as a jelso with some new features, with damping. So they maybe able to tell you viscosity. I have emailed them and gotten a response about the new 750D arm.
VPI HW 19 - replacing springs with pucks or cones
I would think that the noodles between the base and plinth(where the pucks and springs are) gives you more isolation, as it is another layer of isolation. I would think then the base has some isolation from what it is sitting on via cones or the l...
Audioquest PT Arm Damping Fluid
Hey Mark how you doing I thought you know longer had the Audioquest last time we emailed ? Anyhow, I called Audioquest and they sent me a small tube for nothing, though I don't know if they still will since they no longer sell the arm. It would be...
Tonearm conclusions keep coming up Rega ???????
Thanks for the info so far. But does anybody buy VPI JMW 9 arms outright and install them on other brand tables, as I never see that ? I know the "9" will fit the HW-19, but not sure of what else it will fit to be used at a later date on another b...
Anyone using Ortofon AS-309-S arm?
Hello, any idea what the selling price is on this arm? I have not seen them anywhere.
Built-in phono stages
My Mac preamp has a built in MM section. It works for me, though I have not tried anything else for awhile. But I am looking to see what else would be better. Everything I have read is that the mac phono sections are pretty decent.
VPI HW 19 - replacing springs with pucks or cones
Ok, I knew there had to be some official name, but for us plain folks, can we call them noodles ?? What color did you pick ? Seriously, the only question I had is how to accurately cut them each to the exact length ?
VPI HW 19 - replacing springs with pucks or cones
Mike at VPI told me the same thing about the "noodles" They are not styrofoam, but are of a cell type nature, I just don't know what the material is. You can buy Sorbothane, but at he thickness needed it gets pretty expensive. You will see why som...
Help with VPI Mk 19 Jr.
Hello, the Jr acrylic platter, like the Scout and many other VPI platters is not meant for a mat, kind of defeats the purpose of the platter. You do have the white platter ??Like said, go to the Audioquest site, and find the PT-9 instructions. Aud...
