Real "Bookshelf" speaker 4 bookshelf or wall-mount Thanks Rich, you're dead on. I just didn't have the time, at the time, to go into it. peace, warren
Which monitors ? I don't know of any monitor, but one, that doesn't need a subwoofer. As low as my M20s go, a sub is needed. I am waiting on Harmonic Precision's new monitor, the Caravelle. Subwoofer? I don't think so? Can't say this first hand; though the feedbac...
Real "Bookshelf" speaker 4 bookshelf or wall-mount If you're talkig about (actually) putting bookshelf speakers on a bookshelf be prepared to kill your soundstage and just about everything else a high quality speaker has to offer. I own the M20s. Can't imagine (yeah I can) putting these babies on ...
blowing maggie fuses on Mingus. I gently disagree with Sean. My Maggies (Tympani 1Ds) worked wonderfully with my Bryston 4B. Maybe things are different now, but I NEVER blew a fuse. And I used to, really crank those babies. If you're a rocker, however, I don't think the Maggies ...
Sensitive Monitors As much as I love the sound of my Revels they are not the panacea of monitors. I am waiting, patiently, for Harmonic Precision's new speaker, The Caravelle, to come out. Maybe another month. I have my order in for a pair of these babies. In the me...
Anyone know/use River Cable or Lat International? I used Lat International for years. Loved 'em. Cannot beat the price and quality. The sound is very tough to beat at twice the price. peace, warren
Recommendations for Speakers You've auditioned great speakers. The speakers recommended are great. This is the inherent problem with a post such as this. Audiophools recommend what they love, what they heard great things about, what they know, first hand and yadeeyaddeedah. L...
Thiel CS1.5 and properly sized Aragon amp Bigger is not always better as you've heard. I would go with quality juice for those Thiels. I used to own them, and they do, indeed, love some serious quality wattage. Always quality over quantity. That's an audiophoolish no brainer. peace, warren
Maximum distance from my monitors Bottom line: closer is better. I'm now at about 7 1/2 feet. Better yet. It's amazing how that little change makes such a difference. Soundstage becomes deeper and the music more intimate/cozy. Though closer to the speakers the depth of the music i...
Audio Aero Prima or Consonance REF 2.2 cd player. Can't compare the two, but I have the Prima. One killer cdp. I've said this adnauseam, I know; but you can't touch this baby for the price and maybe twice that. At least it'll go a full 15 rounds with players costing a hellava lot more. You're a r...
13' x 9' room big enough? In the middle is always (well, almost always) the best place for a sub. For two channel listening that is.
13' x 9' room big enough? There's oodles you can do. Don't forget, mini monitors need stands. You can, easily, put Revel M20s or the like in that space. Actually, the M20s are not tube friendly because they need lots of wattage, but the size is the factor I was getting at....
I have dedicated lines, but why is this happening? Why bother with dedicated lines if you don't isolate the grounds? As to the air conditioning popping: don't have a clue, but maybe it's related. peace, warren
Maximum distance from my monitors Well guys, 12 feet was just plain too far. Fine for light listening, but for the ole critical tympanics: 9 feet does me good. Soundstage is wide and very deep. I like the bass better with the sub on the short wall and the speakers 2 feet from the ...
YBA Integre vs. YBA / Audio Refinement Complete twice as expensive never equals twice as good. Should it? The difference is well worth it, in this case. peace, warren |
