McIntosh MX model list Thanks Matt. Some further research has revealed that there are really two lines. The first is Marantz based and uses Audyssey. This would be the 119,121,122. The second would be Lyngdorf based and used Room Perfect. This would be 150, 151, 160, 1...
Pre, pro $3k Thanks all—I’ve been leaning towards the AVM 70. Thanks for the thoughts on the voicing of the gear. I just added the A31 to the system last night. Fantastic! Greater detail, dynamics, separation, and clarity.
Anthem AVM 60 vs McIntosh MX 122 I’m also considering having these options—wondering about the AVM 60 vs 70–most concerned about SQ
mcintosh mx units Thoughts on the Mx122 vs say a newer Marantz or Anthem?
Speakers: same brand? Thanks guys. That’s what I was thinking that the voicing of the fronts and center should be the same. An excuse to get more gear!
Parasound Halo A21 + NewClassic 2125 (Mono) VS A31 for L/C/R I have A21 for my fronts and have a A31 coming for my center and sides. Using an old Marantz for the rears and processing. I’ll report in. A21 added much more bass depth, dynamics, and richness.
Mix and match subs? So 2 subs is definitely my max. Seems like there are differing opinions on to pair or mix and match. Seems to me a Paradigm x10 and x12 might work pretty well together. I would think in the frequencies where they overlap that they would blend well...
Mix and match subs? Thanks all for the helpful input—okay SF Sub is scratched off the list. My use will be 2-channel music only and I do love deep bass. My room is 16x18 with vaulted ceilings (family living room so treatment is not an option).I have certainly looked ...
Help with Shortlist of Speakers! (SF vs Devore vs Others?) I highly recommend SF Olympica III in a 16x18 room. I’ve had in the space QAcoustics (way too small and not refined); Tekton Electrons (great sound stage and dynamic but lacking refinement); Dynaudio Countour 30 (picky about speaker wire; lacking ...
Single vs. Dual Subs Okay, so if going with dual subs, can you mix and match sub brands? Seems like sticking with the same driver size may make a difference. I have a Paradigm x10 but was thinking of pairing that with Sonus Faber sub to pair with my SF speakers, but I...
Buying used: how old is too old? Well you all have totally enabled me to go forth and hunt for used speakers. Love the idea of a great discount and not having to deal with a burn in period.Let the hunt continue!
Buying used: how old is too old? Awesome, thanks for all your helpful thoughts. I’m thinking more of the 4-5 year old speaker than the 20-30. I like the car analogy, I have always bought higher end cars that are low mileage but 3-4 years old that end up being discounted 30-60 %.T...
Speaker size and soundstage Well, I’m no expert, but can only report what I recently heard. I listened to three levels of Focals: Aria, Kanta, and Sopra at a dealer with all the same electronics. While there are other differences of course in design, they all are from the sam...
Speaker size and soundstage Such fantastic input; greatly appreciated! I changed the setup yesterday by swapping out entry level cables with higher end cables. The dynamics in both speaker changed dramatically with both opening way up. The Tektons now have much greater exten...
Speaker size and soundstage Thanks for the input all! Such an interesting journey to find the perfect speaker match with my room (can’t change), my gear, and listening preferences.I just moved the Dyns further away from the wall, reduced toe in, and moved closer to the liste... |
