Do You Unplug Equipment During Thunderstorms? Starting in March I unplug the rig from the wall every time I’m done with a listening session. I start leaving the rig plugged into the wall around late October. A fellow audiophile had his new AR integrated tube amp blow up from a lightning stri...
Vinyl sounds better (shots fired) I laughed. Funny how? Why is this so F%#$&ing funny? Funny cartoons, funny topic, just funny. I haven’t read any of the comments yet. I dig vinyl. It’s just incredible when you get the right rig and find that elusive pressing that kills every...
Has it all been worth it? Glad to hear of your health recovery, as that is THE most important thing we all sometimes take for granted. It's a great feeling to have, when listening to music, that very moment when you think something sounds the best it ever has. After all ...
Who's winning? I can't remember a more entertaining group of posts to a thread than this one? It's always good to get caught up on some John Stuart Mill quotations. My answer to the question is yes, everybody's winning. The only guy that's not winning is the ...
At the top of the line is it really all that different? Thankfully, regarding your question of which I was wondering the same thing; the answer is, wait for it... YES! I've been playing around with my 2nd system lately. This gets a little interesting. After the last time I listened to the rig I took ...
NEW Tekton Design Speakers - The Bonnevilles No thanks.
Do CD Transports benefit much from upgraded power cords? They absolutely do! I had some cheap monster cable RCA's connected and we switched in some Cardas Clear RCA's. The improvement in sonics was very noticeable. In fact CD's sounded better than my streaming front end where before streaming always so...
Retirement integrated amp for a “fiscal conservative” @ezstreams, thank you for the kind words. However, don't be distracted by equipment in regards to audio nirvana. I also have a mid-fi rig that I've put less than $1k into getting it off the ground this last year. I have it set up using all that I...
Retirement integrated amp for a “fiscal conservative” You’re not going to have to replace tubes every couple of years. 8k probably won’t get you too much further than you are with the PL. The rest of your gear probably works great with the PL. They're not bad amps for the money matched with the righ...
Entry Level Tube Integrated Amps I found that vintage Dynaco amps are very affordable when wetting your beak on tube amps. I've also tried a Prima Luna integrated amp and really liked that too.
Can you recommend Jazz for some one that doesn't like Jazz? Start with Miles Davis Kind of Blue. Listen to the whole album every day for a month.
How do you decide what to listen to? Same old stuff? What attracts me to listen is something that is mastered/pressed really good. I guess the same applies when I stream, my initial motivation to listen is to hear something that sounds great. I had a sealed Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium for a lon...
Any regrets in selling gear? I had a Yamaha A-S3000 four amps ago. It was the silver face model. IMO that amp was the most beautiful solid state integrated amp out there. It sounded great with my Infinity RS4b speakers. It wasn't a good match for the speakers I upgraded to ...
Friends hi-fi system not very good, what do you do or say? I appreciate and am interested in what somebody has created with their rig and discography. I'm definitely up for a listening session. It's always nice to hear another rig no matter the value of it or experience of its owner.
New Speakers under consideration - but I’m afraid My advice is to do if you're gonna do it. How bad do you want the best sonics? Go large on the reserve funds to get other equipment after the speakers. |
