Correction to my last.  The Ortofon arm is a TA 110.

Interesting problem in that it changes with the turntable used.  I have a Garrard 301 with Ortofon TA 1000 arm and Lyra Delos running to an original CAT SL-1.  It is dead silent at max volume except, of course, some normal tube hiss which is not a...

@slaw  Sorry for late response.  Been away for a week.  Up near @ct0517 country.  If I can remember how to PM, I'll PM you my location.@ct0517 Alaska was fantastic and Victoria the most beautiful city I've ever seen.Harry
I need a good arm to mate with a modified Lenco L75
@noromance Cant say for sure.  My Van den Hul black beauty sounds great on the VPI with ET II arm.  My Lyra Delos on the  301 with Ortofon arm sounds equally as good.  These are very different sounding rigs but each has its strengths.  The Delos w...

I recently finished refurbishing a Garrard 301.  It is installed in one of the massive solid plinths idlers seem to favor. I mounted an Ortofon TA-110.  With a Lyra Delos it is making great music.  You can see pictures in my virtual system.Cheers
Recent retip(canti also) Dude where did my soundstage width go
@fourwnds  We need to go back to basics for a moment.  If you have a respectable cartridge to begin with (which your Grado is, or was) all of the components in that cartridge were designed to work together.  Magnets, coil windings, cantilever, etc...
Why are my woofers pumping?
@o_holter The studder you are seeing in the spindle is typical af asynchronous motors and not a malfunction.  Download and read the manual for the VPI HW-19 MK 4.  There is a paragraph that explains this.If your woofer pumping returns do not use a...

@frogman Yes, I remember now you are the VPI aficionado.  I've read posts by several people who, like you, don't care for sorbothane as a spring replacement but the sorbothane/cone combination makes sense.  I have several of the pucks you describe...

Those of you who still have your ET bolted to a VPI HW-19 may be interested in my experience with replacing the spring suspension.  Being frugal and reading severalblogs about how childrens' noodles made a good replacement I tried one inch pieces ...
Why are my woofers pumping?
@o_holter Reading over these posts I'd lean toward motor, pulley or bearing as the source of the problem.  By way of example, a couple years ago I noticed excessive woofer pumping in my speakers.  It was extreme to the point where I could hear chu...

@pegasus . Thanks for the tip on VTF.  I'm so pleased with the Delos on the Garrard and its sense of "there", it's probably going to stay on the Garrard.  Don't want to touch it for fear of losing the magic.  The Delos is a whole different cartrid...

@ct0517   Over Dinner I was thinking about our discussion.  I'm pleased with the Delos on the Garrard and I'm pleased with the VDH on the VPI.  Some might ask, why not just leave them alone.  Those would ask such a question would obviously not be ...

@ct0517  Re: Setup:  I've tried all variations of setup with the VPI/ET/Delos and it always remains a little bright.  Yet with the Delos on the Garrard/Ortofon that slightly bright, etched sound goes away.  We are using bright and etched with the ...
