phono pre suggestions I wouldn't worry about two volume controls possibly down the road, but running a phono pre direct to your amp is a whole nother world. you need to have a higher gain amp and the impedances matching well for it to work properly. The Manley is far m...
phono pre suggestions I've had the 834P and the Chinook, there's no comparison, Chinook all the way. It's great for rock. There's a used one now for $1795 OBO on the site now. I'd grab that in a second and you won't have a need to upgrade later.
Preamp - 18 dB Gain too low? my 845 amp is very high, 200mv. I wonder if I am losing any performance since my volume is at 9pm for normal listening. it sure sounds good though despite the touchy volume control. the manufacturer said I could swap out two resistors to make it l...
Denon 103 output--Step-up needed? you should have 60-65db, what does your phono stage have?
Turntable Upgrade Advice Needed Rega P9 or Oracle stop throwing your money away on Rega upgrades. I made that mistake once in my life too. it will get you nowhere, they are not good tables.
AFFORDABLE HIGH VFM RACKS - Opinions Please... I have the Core Audio rack and it's very high quality and packaged extremely well. Arnold is also a great person to work with.
Phono preamp suggestions I had the same table and cart as you at one point, with a Jolida JD-9A. not a bad setup. I'd probably try out that new i-phono device that people are raving about. it's only $400 new.
dc10audio Berlin Destryed the Competition at RMAF they aren't his speakers though, the manufacturer as pleaded with him to stop this. I wouldn't discount the speakers because of this weirdo.
Best loadings for Shelter 501 Mkll you should probably try it at 100ohms. 47k ohms is for MM carts.
VPI Classic vs. Well Tempered Amadeus I guess I just have noisy knots. I've had 3 Amadeus, a multitude of knots, and they all make noise. it's not something you hear with music playing.get a DPS and use that to control the power. it has a switch.
Upgrading from Rega P5 TT you don't want to mess with setup and you bought a table where you need to remove the arm and add spacers just to set VTA, which can never be perfect. worst design ever.
Anyone else receive low offers right away ? I've received a lot of offers on my amp for ridiculous prices, nowhere close to the going rate. The people making these offers seem shocked when I turn them down. One guy wrote me an essay why I should sell my gear to him for so cheap. Lots of wei...
AS Challenger mk 2 vs. Avid Diva 2 sp vs. Rega P9 Fjn04 - Yes, that's true.
AS Challenger mk 2 vs. Avid Diva 2 sp vs. Rega P9 if I had to put a number to it I'd say the GTA is 5-10% better, most notably for me is the bass and an overall "bigger" sound. I'm also hearing some slight nuances that I never did before.
Upgrading from Rega P5 TT Get away from Rega while you can. By the time you do all the upgrades (I've been there) you could have a new Well Tempered Simplex. I have an Amadeus and I hear the Simplex is almost as good. The Rega is not in the same universe, even with all the... |
