Thoughts on VTA...... Why not just use platter mattes with different thicknesses? I have several I’ve cobbled together. Seems to work fine for me.
Jazz for aficionados I found one recently I really like. “Flip Philips Revisited” The sonics on the copy I have are excellent. (1965 EVE Records STLP 1035).-Bryan
Are you as OCD as this audiophile? I like what he is doing. I feel I can learn a lot. I respect him for sharing his passion.
BEST FEMALE VOCAL EVER Julie London...Phoebe Snow...can’t decide.
Is the Vinyl Revival well and growing? The young hipsters driving sales are not in it for the finer audio experience and thus can’t be counted on to carry the flame. They will move on to the next “tangible” audio experience...wax cylinders?
Zerostat Milty really? Just checked, the brush is still being sold: https://www.adorama.com/cpsmb1.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwx7DeBRBJEiwA9MeX_KT_5IEuluuu8ICYDJqJGc_Wx_036IXUW4...It is expensive and Polonium has a 6 month half life so you will need to buy refills. I am going to...
Zerostat Milty really? I’ve had static on my records. I notice it when I lift the record off the matte and hear the static charge. Things I do to minimize it include wiping the matte lightly with distilled water. I also use a carbon brush from Bags Unlimited.I do use a ...
BE VERY CAREFUL OF YOUR DEALINGS ON AUDIO-ASYLUM Sorry about the problem.+1 on the “mean guys” visit. Why not rent a Lincoln Town Car, have them dress in black and white suits and all wear the same Maui Jim sun glasses? An interrogation by a squad of “Agent Smith” types should rattle his box...H...
LP Cleaning I’ve had no problems damaging newer labels from the mid-1960’s pressings or newer. I have had older labels bleed when they get wet. Older RCA’s are fragile as are the older, more desireable Blue Note labels. Learned a hard lesson about getting tho...
LP Cleaning Cleaning records per se doesn’t extend their life, playing dirty records will shorten their sonic excellence. Why not just clean them as you play them? Clean 5 at a time. That way you are just cleaning the ones you listen to.A thorough manual clea...
How do you store and catalog your vinyl? I have always catalogued mine by genre but it doesn’t reflect how I actually use lp’s. That said, I have considered organizing them more aspirationally, or event-driven. In other words; what is the goal I am trying to achieve?More often than not I...
insurance and shipping with UPS I worked for UPS for a while. I’m also a collector and seller of higher-end audio and know how to pack properly. There’s no excuse for them not to pack that amp properly. I would have double-boxed it with 2x shippers and floated it in foam peanuts...
Can someone explain to me why : Accupahse Equipment is that expensive ? Accuphase gear is also very tastefully designed. Good design does have it’s voodoo...
How much isopropanol is effective but safe for viny? I mistakenly called a degreaser like Dawn or Tergitol a surfactent when it is a detergent. A surfactant, like Photoflow, is a wetting agent- reducing the surface tension of water allowing it to penetrate deeper into the grooves. My apologies.
How much isopropanol is effective but safe for viny? What’s in the grooves?Could be anything. My hunch is mostly sleeve dust and household dust. Older records from the 50’s and 60’s could have higher amounts of nicotine and cooking oils. Early Beatles records could have pizza sauce or Bonamo Turkish... |
