Wold like comments on the Avalon Compas
Jeff Fritz? Evaluating audio components at trade shows and publishing incredibly subjective 'better than' conclusions is not only unprofessional but simply absurd. The only worthwhile information would be factual in nature such as the manufactures ...
When is digital going to get the soul of music?
Using even a half assed A to D converter a recorded LP is undistinguishable from the original play. This take time. Then there's are the LampizatOr DACs. This take money. The soul is there.
Bob Carver LLC has been purchased by Emotiva
Taters, yes of course its old news. The question is regarding current pricing and exactly who is involved with their production, the original people or emotaroids?
Bob Carver LLC has been purchased by Emotiva
VTA180 owner here. Regarding price, I understand manufacture has moved from Tennessee to Kentucky, did the original assemblers and managers make that move?If these are emoty-via newbies soldering away it would be prudent to advertise that fact if ...
Can Digital beat our Analog installations?
On the other hand I did hear an LP recorded to digital and I was hard pressed to tell the difference. There are still a few studios that still have two inch tape recorders. The issue is the knowledge of analog recording is dying with the engineers...
Can Digital beat our Analog installations?
The two are so fundamentally different they will never sound the same. If I'm not mistaken to get to the level where some say its equal will cost at least $6000.+ with cabling and converters possibly adding thousands more, just like analog! I own ...
Best setup for two subwoofers.
Drewan+1 There's no free lunch. I'm a two channel two Velodyne DD-12+ user. The Velodyne Manual Room Optimization program contains many parameters of adjustment. While the instructions are clear the actual trial and error listening can be a length...
Sub-woofer fast enough for Horns?
One of the most knowledgable sub designers is Tom Danley who developed the phenomenal servo belt driven driver motor. If anybody can speak to the original posters question I'd suggest him.http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/Some interesting responses t...
Sub-woofer fast enough for Horns?
Bob_ +1 I must have at least eight subwoofers in cars, Bass amplification, computers, two channel, and HT. And I don't have a clue as to what is meant by slow sub?I compared a REL Studio III with a JL Audio F113 and my DD-18 Velodyne in my two cha...
Does Avalon speakers have a house sound?
More aptly, what speaker brand doesn't have a house sound?Omsed ["Sorry, but coloring up speakers with cables and amps adds distortion (as pleasing as it may be) which heavily masks true detail."]Can you tell me what brand of cables add distortion...
Starting a new dedicated HT
IMO making any HT or Audio only system family friendly (one button ON/OFF) really makes it inviting to use. A cable or after market remote can make this possible along with an amplifier and other components that use low standby power.Personally, I...
Speaker input, which one, Magico, Avalon, Yg, Rock
For some reason the Opus doesn't show up on the Avalon products page.http://www.avalonacoustics.com/opus.html
Speaker input, which one, Magico, Avalon, Yg, Rock
My Eidolons are not as old as yours, not that it maters. I'm a Bass player and the Eidolons went straight to my heart from the very beginning, With my large room I supplemented with a pair of Velodyne subs. I'm not in the full range camp. I prefer...
Mytek 192-DSD DAC vs NAD M51, Levinson 36, Phasure
["and with the very expensive Venture Audio Phasure NOS1, which served as as our reference DAC."]As a software based DAC was the NOS Phasure as complicated to get up to speed as their forum and the Six Moons review seems to suggest? Very interesti...
Velodyne only sub with remote volume control?
Dweller, I agree. Typically for pop music not so much for Classical and acoustical. I'm constantly adjusting the subs volume as well as one preset for phase, and the, others for slightly different EQ slopes.
