Nuforce 9V2SE with Dodd tube pre? I have a Reflection Audio battery powered preamplifier feeding my SE's to some Eidolon's. The NuForce SE's are so transparent that removing VAC from the preamp should be extremely noticeable.I have found the common practice of pairing switching am...
Stereophile Article - Holt telling it like it is. Holt ever do any serious recording? When I hear my instruments ( both electric and acoustic Basses ) tracks recordings played back the overall sound is remarkably lifelike. Along with knowledgeable engineering the chain, including the microphones ...
Stereophile Article - Holt telling it like it is. DANLIB... your far out man, holy shizzel. What happened to make you so up tight. Chile out, have a puff, sit in the sun, whatever. You've got to get back in the groove brother. Some people need a little help, don't get down on them. It's cool man....
Moving away from tubes. Is this a good idea? I strongly suggest you keep your tube amplifier for a long while. Any transition is going to be dramatic. I don't mean that in a positive or negative way but more in a matter of taste. I still insert my tube amp from time to time, it's an old frie...
Preamp for JRDG 302 + Avalon Eidolon Stick with batteries Rowland, Reflection Audio, etc. IMO a battery powered preamp is the ultimate compliment to most switching amplifiers and not tubes. Is the Dartzeel battery powered?I would experiment with other copper cables in your system.

Class-D amps - a different re view Power from the wall theory? My experience with upgrading my VAC was a night and day difference with my first class D a PS Audio HCA-2's sonic abilities. I can't say if it was the increase in amperage, the dedicated circuit, the larger gauge conduc...
Class-D amps - a different re view Warren, I'm guessing your friend with the electronics background is more than likely correct. I highly recommend you invest a few dollars in a dedicated VAC shielded 20 amp circuit to your audio system. The sonic improvements can be very noticeabl...
Low volume music I was chasing low volume wholeness for a long time. My startling success came with the purchase of my current speakers powered by either a linear solid state or switching amplifiers. The mechanical noise from my tube amplifier becomes distracting ...
Class-D amps - a different re view Looking at this thread as a whole it seems to me there are fewer class D detractors than in months past. The few that are here have at least had some first hand experience with the a product and politely didn't care for their presentation. After l...
Subwoofer Choice I would point out that regardless of the method of speaker placement the Velodyne software is still very helpful in sub placement, crossover point, level matching regardless of whichever sub you chose. Velodyne also markets this system as a stand ...
Not Another NuForce thread...... Chris & Jb some interesting thoughts, thanks. I've assumed that the whole thing started with Stereophile's review of the PS Audio HCA2 along with its induction into their Class A rating all with seemingly less that stellar measurements. It can...
tube pre suggestion This may be out of left field but..............After a short time I found the combination of my SE's, and my speakers to be so transparently resolving that the presents of my tube preamplifier had me listening to the preamp. There is absolutely no...
Ayre V-1Xe vs VTL 450 Dennis, under Mr. Miller's post is a blue highlighted link named 'System.' Click it to see what seems to be a very nice apartment in what I can only assume is a very Twaddling Town.Kmiller5, Personally, I've often admired this system. I recently h... |
