Phono pre amp
That is an extremely nice cartridge on what is a very nice table.  Yes, you will get much more out of it by moving to a standalone phono stage.  Frankly, you would get more out of the Ortofon 2M Bronze as well.  Budget is relevant.  I run a cartri...
NAD M33 or NAIM UNITI NOVA?
Either should do the job well and both sonically are well suited to those speakers.  Not sure about NAIM inventory but M33s have a typical wait time of 90 to 180 days due to COVID.  I have a bunch on order.  It is frustrating but that long lead ti...
Chord mscaler - what’s so good about more taps?
If you get an M-Scaler, it will undeniably change the sound of your system.  It is not a subtle change.  I am sure folks with hearing loss might struggle to hear the change, but if you have undamaged hearing and are paying even vague attention, yo...
Schiit amps, freya preamp
I had someone trade in a Schiit Freya+ and I had never spent any time with it. I have swapped it into my system as I ponder what preamp to choose next (I am trying to decide between Art Audio, KR and AVM).  It is not a bad unit. It sounds very goo...
Amp/Preamp Recommendations
For $3999, Canor Audio makes a 100w class D hybrid with a tube input stage. Canor is a Slovakian company that is just launching here in the US. The first amp arrived on New Years Eve for a review in Enjoy The Music. It has been available for a whi...
Power amp for Vandersteen Treo?
There is a guy over in the Stereophile Forums, commsysman who runs a Musical Fidelity M6 PRX with an ARC LS26 Pre.  He says it is absolutely magical and it is his end-game system.  MF M6 PRXs don't come up all that often used but they were re-issu...
Class D
Certain Class D amps thrive, others not so much.  AVM and Rogue I know from personal experience are fine and more than stable at these lower impedances.Other brands I know struggle a bit.
Floor-standing vs Book-shelf from upper line up?
I love the Marten line.  The Parkers have that rear firing passive driver.  The Oscars do not.  You will find that the Parkers are going to deliver a bigger soundstage above 40hz where most music lives.  You will find deeper classical pieces might...
Kef reference 3
The M33 is the best of the three of those IMO.  Issue at the moment is it is slow getting them due to COVID.  The others will be available much more quickly. The Naim should sound great but is lower powered than the NAD I think.  I would not pair ...
Upgraded amp for B&W 802d3
Check out AVM which is a superb German manufacturer.  They have a neutral to warmer sound signature.  Udo is an ex Burmester guy and that influenced him.  The Ovation 6.3 stereo and mono amps have SS input stage and MOSFET output stage.  The Ovati...
Which brand of 45 tubes do you use?
KR makes a 45 that they ship with their P-135 Preamp. Most KR tubes are designed so that although output is consistent with the spec for the tube, the plate dissipation is higher than spec allowing you to drive the tube harder to get more out of i...
Living room system: class A or AB amps?
Those speakers are tremendous.  A/B gear is going to run a lot cooler than class A.  I run low wattage tube amps and they run absurdly hot and warm my room.  Big, class A, SS amps are going to generate a ton of heat. Not going to be as cool as Clas...
Pure tube phono preamp
You need to check out a few productsArt Audio Vinyl One Copper Reference.  Ships with Silver Foil caps, variable gain and you can even add a remote volume control if you don't want a separate preamp.  This is a simple, straight forward preamp that...
used speaker recommendations
One funny thing, even if a speaker is not rear ported, often times they perform best when given more space from the rear wall.  Try giving them a little more room, like 24" to 36" and you may find that sound improves further.  That much room may n...
used speaker recommendations
How close are the speakers to the wall?  A little room from back and side walls could have a big impact.  Bigger driver on the Jade 3s might also help and those should be comfortably in your price range.
