Ohm Speakers, thoughts? Does anyone know if the DDD driver used by German Physiks has any built in mechanical cross-overs like the Walsh driver used by Ohm?
Ohm Speakers, thoughts? Lngbruno, I have never owned Walsh or German Physiks speakers. If I could afford them the Huffs would certainly merit an audition.
Ohm Speakers, thoughts? Lngbruno, I believe that Ohm has claimed that their original technicians have all retired and that they could not find suitable replacements. German Physiks have done just what you have suggested. The German Physiks speaker line does deviate sligh...
Childproof audio Congratulations! You seem to be on the an ideal path. Your so right! When ever my child really loved the music he used to hug my floorstanders (with supervision). Best of luck!
Have any experience with Thiel Smart Subwoofers? Very nice! IMHO, Thiels work best with Krell.
Preamp gain vs. poweramp sensitivity Herman, thank you very much!
Have any experience with Thiel Smart Subwoofers? "I am using five CS7.2 for multichannel music (SACD)." Luck you! Please let us know what the rest of your system consists of. I haven't heard what your describing, but, I would imagine the sealed box subs (especialy with the active cross-overs) wo...
Vandersteen 2ce sigs? Beginner needs guidance. While not perfect or free from flaws and not the last word in resolution, I think Stevecham nailed it! I've heard the Vandy 2's numerous times in numerous locations. They have sounded superb and dreadfull depending on room and set up. IMHO, these ...
Preamp gain vs. poweramp sensitivity Ok, Paul. Sorry for stealing your thread. Perhaps you might be able to confirm whether I'm correct in assuming that an amp with 26.6 db of gain has a sensitvity of 2.66 V for full out put?
Preamp gain vs. poweramp sensitivity May I borrow this thread? Perhaps Herman can clear my head. I have a stereo amp that is rated at 250 watts per channel in to 8 Ohms with 26.6 db of gain. What is the amps sensitivty?
Childproof audio Beemer, what I'd like to do is give innocent children a break. Do a search on "Fallen TV's". An estimated 2300 children a year visit emergency rooms each year due to fallen TV's. I'm no kid myself. I survived not even being tethered by seat belts ...
Vandersteen 2ce sigs? Beginner needs guidance. My first suggestion for a beginner is to check the archives. Not knowing your budget, makes recommendations difficult. I'm a big fan of McCormack gear with Vandy's!
Ohm Speakers, thoughts? While not quite the single driver, cross-overless design of the original Walsh drivers, the Huff and German Physiks speaker systems may be the closest thing to a properly designed Walsh speaker currently available, albeit at a price.
Childproof audio I've said this before here on Audiogon. One can not expect young children to follow house rules, even if the rules are for the childs own safety. This is the very essence of maturity. Some developmental disabilites may not be evident until 2 years...
Childproof audio I would think tethered floor standers might make sense. Hot and or sharp components should be out of harms reach. Even speaker ports welcome investigating hands, the contents of which are not something one would want in small mouths. Cables and po... |
