Ayre AX5 Twenty For comparison sakes here are the measurements for the earlier model: Ayre Acoustics AX-5 integrated amplifier Measurements | Stereophile.comNotice that it's only able to produce 220 Watts into only 1 channel rather than the 500 Watts into 2 chan...
Thiel Owners Jim Thiel calibrated his speakers at a distance of 3 meters facing straight ahead. Ideally you would have a minimum of 5’ from side walls and a minimum of 3’ from speaker backs to wall behind them.
Universal disc players as CD players. I have for years. Pioneer CLD 704, Arcam DV88, Oppo 205. I dislike unnecessary redundancy. All were as good sounding at their price point in their time as dedicated CD only players.
Is it possible to bring your kids into this hobby? I totally agree with @erik_squires , building something will offer an understanding of how things work, a sense of accomplishment, avoiding a pursuit of consumerism, and perhaps most importantly provide a bonding experience of doing all that toget...
Retract offer ...Should the seller be at a loss if another offer is lost because the first pending one is lost? These deals can have a domino effect. One could make an offer with a time limit at the time of the offer. Time to put on one's big boy pants.
Ayre AX5 Twenty A rather expensive integrated considering it’s power output, that has been rather well received by reviewers. It should be noted that original AX5 measurements suggest that it is not an ideal candidate for low impedance speakers.
Wide Bandwidth Amplifiers Problems Some wide bandwidth amplifiers can go into oscillation when used with some speaker cables. This can be fixed by adding a zobel network to the speakers binding posts. BTW, there is no audible consequence for this inexpensive fix.
Thiel Owners @bellesfan, Being so close to a wall is all the more reason to move them in closer, which should also make for a more solidly imagining center fill. At some point, you might want to consider some absorptive room treatment on the close side wall.
Thiel CS1.6 How to remove woofer? I’m not sure what you originally paid for the damaged speakers, but I think the cost to repair them will be well worth it. One of the last genuine Jim Thiel designs. Used Thiel CS1.6 for Sale | HifiShark.com
Thiel Owners @bellesfan, If I may be so bold to recommend (and I offer this without knowing all room dimensions) that you try moving you speakers 3’ in so that the centers are 10’ apart, and moving the speakers further out from the wall behind the speakers so ...
The Exogal saga continued.... @onhwy61 , Very clever! Thanks, we could all use some amusement.
The Exogal saga continued.... ^A discussion about stereo on a stereo forum, imagine that. Be wary the patient man’s anger.
The Exogal saga continued.... It seems as though the op is being punished for practicing patience while being led down the garden path of unfulfilled promises. While Joe salesman might be the paid employee, if the customer can’t get satisfaction there, where else to turn to, ...
Thiel Owners @thoft, the 3.6’s are probably already too big for your room, I think the 7’s (as good as they are) output, will overwhelm your room. If the 3.6’s are in any kind of decent shape, should garner well over that figure on the open market. This all see...
Thiel Owners @sdecker , You’re point is well taken , which is why I went back to check again. I wasn’t sure how the whizzer’s were implemented. In the case of the Tannony’s there are indeed cross-overs, they’re not 1st order and the step responses clearly sh... |
