All vandersteen users ?
I'm not a Vandersteen user. Vandersteen recommends between 40-160 Watts into 8 Ohms for these speakers. I would humbly suggest you lean more towards the upper end rather than the lower end of this range.

I can't offer the same recommendation for the Alph-Core interconnects that I do for the speaker cables.
Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
FWIW, I have truly enjoyed front 3 channel demonstrations, but, have never heard (and at any price) rear channels that didn't sound gimmicky.

Perhaps you might want to search the archives here on Audiogon re: ML's customer service before purchasing any more of their gear?

I would imagine that the Zobel keeps the amp from seeing a "highly reactive load". The Zobels don't need to be soldered. Other ss amp manufactures have endorsed the Alpha-Core Goertz speaker cables and have even had a hand in their development.

Why wouldn't the use of the RC networks (Alpha-Core speak for Zobels) be a good idea?
Are "good" cables needed for vintage system?
Good advise above. The improvement wrought by the actual higher quality RCA jacks will probably be most helpfull.

I'm guessing the Alpha-Core Goertz MI2 or AG2 speaker cables would work nicely.
Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
No, at least not in my opinion. Dollar for dollar I think two-channel offers better quality/value, and most people don't have large enough rooms to properly accomodate the extra channels. There is only a tiny percentage of well recorded multi-chan...
Room size
IMHO, your room would be considered medium+, and I would consider a larger speaker.
