What do you look for in damping factor? Of course those are all good reasons to like a speaker, but, amongst other things, ports can compromise time and phase fidelity. Obviously, some feel the trade off worth it.
Is the most efficient speaker the best speaker? Atmasphere, thank you for your follow up. On some level I agree with you, I just want to know at what point does pursuing this one consideration of the many, lose sight of the total goal. I still don't have the answer to that. I still think that t...
What do you look for in damping factor? Atmasphere, thanks. That appears clever, but I still think the use of ports come with a price. So much for free lunch?
Should the best systems sound almost identical? Ideally yes, but at present there are so many different variables that are still varyingly different degrees away from mastery, and different systems demonstrate their different degrees of mastery at different variables. We still have aways to go, ...
Tube amps known to have a low damping factor? Compared to ss amps most tube amps have lower damping factors. Wolcott tube amps appear to be capable of a rather high damping factor for a tube amplifier. Some amps with a high damping factor have little or no global feedback.
Best Canadian Made Whiskey I prefer Scotch, but once in a while a (Crown) Royal Manhattan straight up hits the spot.
Is the most efficient speaker the best speaker? JohnK, perhaps you could identify them. You will not find one declaration by me of going on a "crusade". I do follow the rules. Some forms of cultural etiquette exist without rules. Have you now become the CFO of Audiogon? Try as you might to twis...
Is the most efficient speaker the best speaker? JohnK, other folks in the industry either use their business name, provide a disclaimer, or get taken to task for failing to. I'm sure I'm not the only one doesn't click on every sign in name of every post. Why do you continualy refuse to comply w...
Denon DVD-3910 Universal Player; help with digital have you just tried the Denon on it's own, you might be pleasantly surprised, as the Denon's sound isn't shabby.
Is the most efficient speaker the best speaker? Charles1dad, I think we are in agreement, and that is exactly the point of my posts. Best Regards,
Is the most efficient speaker the best speaker? Thanks, Mr.D, that was really helpful.
Is the most efficient speaker the best speaker? JohnK, What I posted was that I've heard horns sound shrill with both ss and tube amps, in response to Atmasphere's assertion that horns can sound shrill. I posted that headphones hardly sound like live music. If you consider that as an absolute, ...
Is the most efficient speaker the best speaker? Charles1dad, FYI, my amp has no global feedback, and my speakers are moderately sensitive. Furthermore, if I heard something that I liked better that didn't conform to those parameters, I wouldn't hesitate to change. It should also be clear that o...
What do you look for in damping factor? Audiokinesis, high damping factors don't automatically indicate high global feedback. So high damping factor does not necessarily imply sonic trade offs in other areas. As you've posted in earlier threads, it's easier to make a speaker with a low im...
Is the most efficient speaker the best speaker? Atmasphere, thank you again for your considered response. I like most others here, don't have access to such equipment. If this data is so readily available, why isn't it routinely being published? I might not completely understand what your sugge... |
