Which artists do you just not get?
Nearly everything played on the radio.Pearl Jam anything after Ten. The lazy grunge movement so permeated everything about Eddie Vedder that he doesn't even try to sing--usually he doesn't even bother to open his mouth. I apparently got lazy too b...
DVD/CD/SACD player advice needed
I'm really happy with my Pioneer 47a. I picked up a demo unit here on Agon for $650 probably about a year ago. I haven't compared it to other machines, but the sound quality certainly isn't poor and its nice that I can buy music now in any format ...
SACD 2...for those who have not heard
If Sony doesn't make SACD 2 backwards compatible with today's machines then they lose my business. I have no problem not supporting a company that doesn't support the customer. Luckily I have the Pioneer 47a so the machine won't be a total waste...
Good DVD Concert?
I've got to second the the Underworld DVD. I'm not even a big techno fan, but it sounds fantastic. Also a great DVD to test out a new sub. If you like U2 as much as I do, there's the DVD of All that you can't leave behind which is just all of the ...
DVD-A and SACD
I had the exact same question. Check out this threadhttp://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?bhome&1032979721&openusid&zzUltraviolet&4&5#UltravioletBasically, depending on your associated equipment, you might be a lot better off...
Which speakers do you like in the $5K price range?
Personally I have taken a real liking to Vienna Acoustics. They have a very smooth warm sound, quite different than B&W's (no metal tweeter). The Beethoven's can be had for 3900 new and the Mahler's (10,000 new) can be had for about 5,000 used...
CONFUSED.. Moz vs Beeth..vienna acoustics at all?
Personally I chose the Bachs over the Mozarts because I liked their sound better. Yes, there is a very big step up to the Beethovens in sound quality (from both the Mozarts and the Bachs). I love the VA line, but for the majority of the music you ...
Vienna Acoustics Mozarts are rated 6 Ohms ? ? ?
How did you find out this info? I have 4 Bachs (also rated at 6 ohms) and I want to switch them to another system on another amplifier that's none to beefy. Did you find impedence curves for any of these speakers? I'm also interested in the data f...
Newbie que on "recommended amplifier" rating
Thanks everyone, very informative...I'm going shopping:)
Where does your user name come from?
From the 10th track on U2's Achtung Baby--one of my all time favorite songs.
B&W 804's Vs. Vienna Acoustic Beethoven
Vienna gets my vote hands down. But something else to consider is the Beethoveen's are a 4ohm load (I don't know how low they go either)--many receivers won't do well with that. I'd recommend looking for a new amp/pre before new speakers.
Upgrade suggestions needed
I live in Boston too. Try Tweeter's Etc. They're all over the place here, but don't listen to anything in the store except for the Viennas and the Rels. Oh yeah, and don't expect anyone in the store to know anything at all--especially about the li...
How to hook up two 5.1 channal analogs to receiver
Ok, I heeded your advice...I just bought the Pioneer 47A, hopefully I'll have it by the weekend. I'll be sure to let you know what I think.
How to hook up two 5.1 channal analogs to receiver
Actually, to clarify: The reason why I was thinking of going separates is because I thought this would be better value for my money. I think (and yes, I've read) that the prices out there for the all-in-one machines are too much for their performa...

Thanks for the responses. chilidog you make some very good points about the review process out there. I don't take what I read as gospel truth, but in the absence of being able to hear a particular product I probably do give reviews too much weigh...
