Just wondering... I've run a Bryston BCD-1 almost since they were first released, a good number of years ago. Last year I acquired a Schiit Gungnir (and a Cambridge transport) and alternated them in and out the system. They now reside in my secondary system. Tak...
Decided to change my cd player, suggestions please? Bryston is about to release the BCD-3. Their DACs are highly praised, and I'm still using their BCD-1. I plan to purchase a "3" soon. BTW, superlative factory support and service, if every needed.
What are the smallest speakers that are clean and flat down to 20hz? I guess they're out of production now, but a meritorious mention for the Totem Mani-2's. Remarkable bass out of a relatively small monitor.
How do I power my 800D(3)s B&W and Classe have a corporate connection of some sort, which is why they are so often shown together. Classe is good, but there may be better options.
Do I need speakers upgrade? How far away from the speakers do you sit? How much space is there between the speakers and the wall behind them? With the D48s, seems like you're going for more quality and more bass. Other priorities? My guess is that people will recommend s...
I should have never .... I have a particular aversion to forward-sounding speakers, and have owned ProAcs for years. I would never have used that adjective for them. For much of the time drove Response 2.5s with Cary SE/PureA/Triode.
Need recommendation for a CD player Bryston is about to release the BCD-3, which I expect to be excellent. Or find a used Ayre. Or go Marantz SA8005.
Shopping for new speakers Joseph AudioPMCVienna AcousticsDynaudioProAcI heard a couple of the SF Venere's last year, and frankly--this is just my personal opinion--I thought them engineered down to sound big and technicolor for a "bargain" price. SF has changed a lot over...
Help Choosing Speakers For many years I drove the ProAc Response 2.5s very nicely indeed with an 11 watt amp from Cary.
Harbeth C7es3 vs PMC Twenty.22 comparisons? I know these aren't the same models, but FWIW here's a comparison of Harbeths and PMCs excerpted from a post of mine from April 2015.The Harbeth Super HL5 Plus were a real surprise. I don’t want to use the word bright, so let’s just say that they ...
GoldenEar Triton One Stereo5: you miss my point. At the audition that I was describing, the B&Ws just happened to be in the same room (so easy to hook up), and the CM10s were--of the selection there--the closest in price to the Tritons.I wasn't recommending the B&a...
GoldenEar Triton One Whatever you decide, be sure to audition the T1s beside at least one other brand of speaker under the same conditions.I listened to some T2s at a local dealer a while ago, and was impressed. Then we moved to B&W CM10, and there was no comparis...
record weight .... correct weight? Surely this would depend, at least to some extent, on what kind of platter bearing the turntable uses. I'm no engineer, but I would have thought that some of the heavier weights might negatively affect some designs of bearing.
Luxman Class A Integrated Slight Buzzing Noise Deedo--I have found your posts very interesting and illuminating. Transformer hum and buzz has, off and on, bothered me for years. All the way back to when I owned an Adcom 535 (long time ago). I had a big Nackamichi for about a day (re-badged Thr...
How NOT to sell an item on Audiogon When listing cables of any type, be sure to describe how mellifluous they are, but omit any reference to their length either in the title or the description. Based on the photos alone (coiled only, please), audiophiles like a good guessing-game.Wh... |
