Are you Elegant, Stylish and Obsessive? How about getting a stylish laptop computer and setting up a professional AD/DD/DA on a USB hub with 3 330 gigabyte outboard hard drives, and using a jukebox program to select your music. You could then pre-program your entire listening session at...
Quality of Sony SACD players as CD transports From what I've heard, the SCD is 2 channel and the XA is multi-channel.
Best Tonearm Cable Under 600.00 Gthrush, the OL Silver 250 is NOT the regular OL modded RB250. It is a far better one than even that. Not only does it cost about the same as a Robin, but it performs midrange close to a 2.2 and has bass that rivals an SME V. I seriously doubt tha...
Will Microsoft kill DVD-A and SACD? If it is Microsoft, it will crash. They can't even get their PC operating systems to work right. How in the world will they get something that they don't even know about to work? At least the small audio manufacturers de-bug their software. Micros...
Am I the only one who thinks B&W is mid-fi? I used to work at an audio shop that sold B&W speakers. They weren't the best and they weren't the worst. In my opinion, they are better than mid-fi, but nowhere near the best. The main problems are tubby bass and blanket-over- the-speaker vei...
Help with phono pre-amp I will try to help. If your have very expensive other gear like Krell, then it would be logical to try to match the quality of your system when buying new source items. It is sort of like saying, I have a new set of Soundlabs U-1, can anyone tell ...

While the sound quality may not be up to analog, the editing capability of digital is much more versatile. This gives cleaner edits and other manipula...
Why Not Semi-Automatic Style Turntables? I think it is probably because that most people think that if the record is over, you have to get up and change the record, or turn the system off, anyway. This thinking is okay, as long as you don't fall asleep during listening. if you tend to fa...
First Look - In DashTube Car Audio Very, very cool, BWhite. This is the first time I've actually considered opening up the radio slot in the center console of my Jag to fit a larger unit.
Need help : Single ended, Low power, SET amps.. John, welcome to our world. Now, the next step is to get that magic into the rest of the frequency band too. This is what we are all working on. Not easy, but fun.
Preamp-phonostage selection for analog lover Barbara, in your stated price category, the MFA Magus, the Counterpoint SA-3000 or SA-5000, or maybe even a Manley Reference preamp, all have very fine phono stages and are great sounding tube preamps. The Counterpoints have some Solid State in th...
Sony DVP 9000 Radknee, I find that to be a very accurate description of my Sony DVP-S9000ES player.
My first Turntable... need some suggestions please Thanks, Jimbo3. Yes I am saying that the DL103 will be a match for the RB300 in both compliance and mass factors. the bearings on the RB300 are upgraded from the ones used on the RB250. I have read that they are the same bearings used on the Linn ...
Optimal Humidity for Listening? I have never done any formal tests on your topic. But, some humidity is good in a listening environment for a couple of reasons. Static buildup is usually less in a room with higher humidity. Also some speaker cones can have a longer life if they ...
It sounds far worse without dust cover Sounds like an airborne vibration problem to me. When you lift the cover, sound waves are allowed to reach the arm/cart more directly. Most tables sound better with the lid off. Try changing the location of the table. |
