New Generation Class D - AGD Audion Mkiii upgrade
@roxy54  You can score used LSA Voyager 350 GaN amp for ~ $1800, have it shipped to Ric Schultz (Tweak Audio) for mods and be beyond happy; You might even find a modded one ~$2500 HTH
Ideas for Pre/Power $9000?
You don't need to spend $9K for really excellent sound. Consider: Technics integrated amp https://us.technics.com/products/stereo-integrated-amplifier-su-g700m2-k   speakers (since you are a metal head) something like GR Research The Bull...
Entry CD player question?
@safebelayer    I too have a CDT6000, mine with a Audio Alchemy DDP-1 + PS 5: I clearly hear the difference between the same company's 1.0 v 1.5m coax. ditto power cords, and even different iso devices

Although at some point I intend to send Ric my LSA Voyager (I am one of the lucky ones to have his dual mono EVS 1200), my stock Voyager is very livable

@tksteingraber  Aha, so you made your own slugs from the rod. What kind of saw blade and sand paper grit did you use

@tksteingraber  If you cut them yourself, did you polish the cuts? I remember when I was using OEM  fiber optic cables, and a guy was selling his with polished ends using a large magnifying scope: it was a VG improvement

Very cool. I can’t help but wonder whether coating the fuse holder contacts with graphene oxide would add anything. Im on Golden State site now, but do not see the slugs. How did you approach them about it?
