"Musical" subwoofers? Advice please on comparing JL subs
@northman I hear you. My room is 12X11, so I know of what you speak. My near field system has two subs. I chose the REL T/7i over the JL simply because I value Class A/B over Class D in an analogue system. If I were digital I might not mind Class ...
I bought some Owens Corning 703. Now what?
@mitch2 A/V Room Service EVPs are made with/of: "The EVP core is a matrix of precisely compressed high-density molded glass fibers, which allows controlled air movement through the fibers." (from his web site specs)They work well for isolating equ...
Your shipping wrecks. USPS,FED-EX and UPS
@ bkeske  You're right. We need to take the Constitution and Bible literally. LOL
RIP - Aretha Franklin
Oh no! Jerry Garcia died too!
Why is there no love for Prima Luna?
@rushfan71 I would think a thread like this would also be an opportunity for the unhappy PL owners to voice their issues with PL as well.I'd like to hear from them, and I'm not talking about system synergy issues. That's right! Every discussion ...
Bought some 14/2 “speaker wire” from Home Depot
@gosta  +1Although it may not be his hearing as much as his brain failing.
More power for moderate listening levels?
As opposed to choosing what is bad, I guess. Like tuberculosis. @millercarbon  Yeah, you named it. Now you will have it for the foreseeable future.OP, many posters want you to buy what they have in speakers and amps. Sure that would be great. I...
More power for moderate listening levels?
Tekton makes some great speakers, very high efficiency, great sound, and their favorite amp is Pass. It would seem a match made in heaven.   That sounds like a recommendation to change speakers to your fav.
More power for moderate listening levels?
To contradict Mr. Miller, you don’t buy speakers to match your amp. If you like your speakers (and I don’t have any familiarity with them), buy an amp that matches the speakers. My mains are 85 dB sensitivity. I use tube mono blocks. When I started...
smaller speakers for critical listening?
@northman I have a small room, 11X12. Just due to space constraints I went with stand mounted monitors made by ATC. I think if the selection of speaker provides an accurate representation of the music it will work well for critical listening. I cr...
Put that in your pipe(s) and smoke it
22 posts and you insult already , nevermind the reason, 2 peoples, nevermind their posts content... Dear @oldhvymec, above is the first line of his post aimed at me. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
1st Post Intro & Ramblings
@p05129 I agree whole heartedly with you on set up. I use the Jim Smith method too. I think MC is a troll who blabs just to blab.
My thoughts on TT isolation methods.
@blueranger Sorry I'm late to the party. I too use the 4 inch Maple blocks and am very happy with them. Mapleshade makes the best ones IMO.
Why so obsessed with bass?
@ mijostyn     Great point well put. That's the difference between an intelligent and articulate post and the dribble that @millercarbon posts. His posts are like "you're a stupid idiot unless you listen to me".
Amplifier warm up
@millercarbon There's no such thing as warm-up, and certainly nothing needs to be left on all the time. This is from his lengthy post on the other thread on this subject, just this week  Which is it Chucky?Of course it takes time to reach therma...
