Running Active Speakers - Neophyte Needs Advice
I would never own passives again either.
Running Active Speakers - Neophyte Needs Advice
I also own the Quad Actives and would N-E-V-E-R own passive speakers again. I've compared the 12L Actives to their passive consumer counterpart, and everybody in the room felt that they were two pairs of speakers from opposite ends of the universe...
How Much Hiss Is Normal?
I have two pair of Quad 12L Pro Actives and every speaker has some hiss...one or two more than the others. I don't hear a thing at all from more than 2 ft away. From my listening position, it's dead silent and NEVER intrudes upon the music. No swe...
Review: Quad 12L-A Active Monitor
Klipschorn, this is an astounding contribution to the discussion. Thanks for your observations and descriptions. As stated above, I have two pair of the Quad 12L Actives and feel that they are the closest thing to "real" that I've ever heard...exce...
Review: Quad 12L-A Active Monitor
I'm curious to know as well, but too lazy to call Wharfdale. As an aside, I own 2 pairs of the 12L Pro Actives and am absolutely THRILLED with them...wouldn't trade them for anything. Glad I jumped on the Ebay deals when I did. If you can't get th...
15" vs 18" subwoofer - which to buy?
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the some folks use two subs in order to attempt to smooth out some of the peaks and nulls in the listening environment. Takes lots of time, practice, and measuring equipment to accomplish this effectively.
15" vs 18" subwoofer - which to buy?
My gosh, I had to buy TWO gas masks for all the BS I smell in this thread. Talk of stereo bass, need for numerous 18" subs, small Velodynes as toys. The word NEWBIE is written all over this thread. For the umteenth time, it really boils down to ju...
Do you think you need a subwoofer?
>>Who knew that bass players don't move across the stage<< I loved that quote.Gosh, I hope that it's not an upright acoustic bass, or if it is, that it's at least on rollers. If it's an electric bass, I sure hope that I don't have to re...

Velodyne DD's flying out of owners' houses
I own the DD-10 and will be moving up to a pair of DD-12's due to moving to a larger space. The DD-10 is absolutely incredible, and indestructable if used with common sense. By common sense, I mean that ANY sub (even ones with built-in limiters) c...

>>This fact makes a great difference in what you say.<<Raul, can you articulate what the difference is?The fact that the low pass slope starts out at 12db merely means that its initial rolloff is rather shallow...just like some of the ...

If any of you folks could produce some type of coherent argument or refutation of the widely accepted acoustic theory (OTHER than your weak anecdotal evidence), I'd have more respect for you. None of you is particularly versed in crossover filter ...

Velodyne Digital Drive Series subwoofer in stereo
Actually, I'm using some extemely high end Radio Shack speakers for which I paid $34.95...which is probably more than what you paid for your Walgreens Sonicbox speakers. You children obviously need to do quite a bit more research if you'd like to ...
