Helping a kid out
Sorry Tvad, didn't notice your reply earlier about the soldering iron. Put me down for any other tool, precision diagonal cutter, needle nose? Whatever you need sir. You're doing a great thing here, Big Brother.
Helping a kid out
An Amp Camp amp would be an awesome project for a kid too.
Helping a kid out
I'll donate a soldering iron if you need one, only if it's passed around to any other kid who wants it next. Love this thread.
Reasonably sensitive speakers for tube amps, max $2k/pair, new or used
Sorry, mine are the Modern CAMs. Pic added to virtual system. The SAMs are out of your price range but both the regular CAMs and my Modern CAMs should be in budget. Louis also has other offerings but my research and experience with his Super 3 HO ...

Strongly recommend the Omega alnico lines. In your budget for monitors, I enjoy my Custom CAMs like no other before it.
What Integrated Amp do You use
Mcintosh MHA100, oddly I haven't used the headphone out not once. This Mc mini amazes me every time I listen to it. Recently saw a youtube video stating they couldn't pick it out in blind testing against an EVO 400 int. I was floored to hear that ...
Why do people say low power amps should be good for bookshelf speakers?
I've basically got the same amp, the MHA100 and it's a REALLY NICE sounding set up through the speaker taps. I'd say 90db or better for a larger room or loud volumes....bookshelf or tower. My 95db bookshelf speakers never make the amp break over 2...
Beginner Looking For Set Up Advice!
Don't think anyone actually answered your question, but yes you can feed all your HDMI inputs into the tv and the optical out will be a single source for the Peachtree. This is how I run mine. That Peachtree looks pretty cool, the pre-outs will fe...
Tinnitus sufferer: is it the speakers or the 24bits/192kHz
I've tried many different combinations and what worked for me was alnico full range speakers (Omega) and Mcintosh gear. Not the pinnacle of detail or transparency but it's smooth as butter and the most enjoyable I've ever owned. I used to have to ...
Decware: a worthwhile option?
My 95db Omega's use less than .5 watt at spirited volumes in my room. I'm also very curious about Decware, I really like their low stated power draw of 65 watts max. I was actually going to start a thread to see if anyone knew if the SE84UFO25 was...
Stereo systems are like Harleys
Marcus Dairy, oddly never made it there even though I'm close. Limerock is a lot of fun, lots of open space so should be open.
Stereo systems are like Harleys
I hear ya on the electronics, but there's no going back. My Twinkie gave me no issues either mechanically, just fuel injection problems.  I've settled on Mcintosh for now, pretty happy with it for the time being. My bucket list keeps growing though.
Stereo systems are like Harleys
I've had a bike on and off for 35 years, my last was a Dynaglide that had for over 10 years but sold it just over a year ago. I'm eying a Sport Glide now. Nice looking Softail, love the springer front end. So you guys get the whole Harley/stereo t...

Virtual signaling, now that's a new one for me...thanks for the link MC. If that's what you call a subtle poke to have people be a little nicer around here, so bit it. You sir, have a nice day.
If you stream music from the internet, I can't recommend this more highly
I'm not saying that any of these devices don't work, but what I don't understand is, don't streamers cache a certain amount of the data internally? If you are listening to music and you pull the ethernet cable out of your streamer, it will continu...
