USB to Dual Coax Bridge for Qutest DAC @drlou77 I had a similar setup as you, Aurender N100H feeding a Sboosted Qutest via Curious and other USB cables. For the most part it sounded great, albeit a bit harsh on some recordings. I'm not bashing USB but I moved on from it due mostly to...
Power strip recommendations Tripp-Lite hospital grade strip is high quality and reasonable. They have models with longer cords too. https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Medical-Grade-Hospital-Grade-PS-602-HG/dp/B0016HIMTC
DACed and Confused here... @soix I've used the Apple Camera connector for an old iPhone while listening to background internet radio, sounded ok for it's purpose but it recently died. I looked up the Lavri cable you recommend but it doesn't say anywhere if you can power a d...
Coax SP/DIF to USB..thoughts? @daveyf I don't know how universal this is but I think it will work with most streamers that have a usb output. I've used my UT100 on a MacMini M1 without any issue at all. Windows would probably need a driver which could be an issue but I think a...
Coax SP/DIF to USB..thoughts? @daveyf I'd try an Aurender UC100 converter, at $700 it's not cheap but you may be able to get one used. I use their UT100 usb to fiber converter and it works just great. I'm not going to argue the pros or cons of USB sound quality, I just don...
DAC UPGRADE QUESTION Lots of great recommendations here. If you want to squeeze as much performance out of your Qutest before the next big upgrade, I'd try a linear power supply, my Qutest responded nicely to the Sbooster, the extra filter thingy didn't seem to make a...
Monitor Stands - Made of Stone @69zoso69 I keep seeing the D&D speakers in Roon ads, how do you like them in general?
millercarbon @chrshanl37 LOL, nice to start my day off with a laugh. I don't like to cast stones, but if there was ever a legend in his own mind.......
Aurender N10 connection with the network Additionally, for my home office I use Cisco Business access points, one set up as a bridge and not once had an issue with my N100h. I just keep everything off that network for security reasons.
Aurender N10 connection with the network @rickderuyter , I'm in IT so I've seen my share of strange networking issues. Due to location, I'm forced to use a wifi extender set up in bridge mode. So it simply feeds the ethernet cable out to my Aurender, and doesn't extend the wireless signa...
Aurender N10 connection with the network @gs5556 If MicroLost made anything that didn't suck....it'd be a vacuum.
subwoofer buzz - how to eliminate it These get great reviews and are very reasonably priced. I'm thinking of getting some. https://www.svsound.com/products/soundpath-subwoofer-isolation-system
Aurender N10 connection with the network @bill_peloquin Cat5 is actually only rated for 100Base-T. Most people at home and work are on gigabit (1000Base-T) which requires Cat5e or better. I'd use a Cat6 cable if I were you. You may want to consider putting a DHCP reservation in on yo...
FYI: Let visitors use your Wi-Fi for additional security Guest networks are for security, they typically only allow access to the internet, not anything on your local network. Ideally they'll put the guests on a different IP subnet to further isolate the two. One mistake I see often is not password pr...
What would cause noise (ground noise?) when touching the volume control and tone controls? Does this happen when no sources are connected to the preamp? If not, try an optical cable between your streamer and dac. I had a similar problem years ago that just couldn't be resolved until I did that. Very strange but it worked. |
