Marantz 8300 "Universal "Player. Reviews/Comments? I wouldn't mind seeing that article either. I was seriously considering this player as well for its universal playback. If you can email to me, I'd appreciate it.- Thanks!
SACD- my intial thoughts.... Tbadder brings up an excellent point about the hybrid discs. I don't have SACD but bought 2 SACD/CD of the Rolling Stones recently. I was so impressed with the sound I was thinking how much better could it be on SACD? Some of the tracks were bette...
SS amps that sound like tubes? There are several amps to consider in that price range. Ususally a MOSFET amp will give you a more "tube-like" sound. I have always been partial to the sound of Hafler and Bryston but there are many more. Happy hunting.
Audio Alchemy DTi Pro 32 - Any Good? The DTI-PRO 32 is an excellent addition to your existing system. I would not hesitate recommending it, especially with your existing equipment. I also recommend the upgraded power supply. I have the AA Power Station 2 which powers up to three AA d...
Best Concert DVD Santana is very good as is the Eagles "Hell freezes over". I still think the BEST sounding concerts are on laserdisc. My Pink Floyd concerts on LD are the only reason I still keep an LD player around!! In fact most of the LD concerts I have sound ...
Name this Preamp Thanks, Steakster. Since I started this post, I think that the absolute BEST option doesn't exist (as I am aware anyway) and I don't know why. What would be ideal in my system would be a separate "processor only" that decoded DD and DTS (ES a bonu...
MoFi versus new remasters Fatparrot, I think I know what you are referring to, esp. on "Melancholy Man". From a recording standpoint, "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour" I think is the best sounding CD, esp. the opening track.
MoFi versus new remasters Thanks, Madhy, I forgot about the DTS releases. Unfortunately, I don't have a system capable of playing back DTS but when I do, I'll definately check those out! You're right, Octave was never "officialy" released by MoFi. I'm not sure how to get h...
MoFi versus new remasters The new remastered CD I was referring to is "Days of Future Passed". These remasters were done in 1997 and I believe were released at the same time as "Time Traveler", which I also owned for a while. I was never impressed with the sound of that se...
How can you tell if a MoFi disk is genuine? Not only is the disc gold but it is embossed with a black label that usually reads "Original Master Recording", has the album name and group name on it and will also have the record label of the company who released it on the label too.
Name this Preamp Thanks for the feedback Larryb!
Bi Amping... worth it? Thanks for the response! I will check both avenues out!
Bi Amping... worth it? All you guys that are passively bi-amping, what are you using as a Y-adaptor? I too would like to passively bi-amp my speakers but I shudder at the thought of placing a Radio Shack (or derivative thereof) Y-adaptor connecting my Audioquest Opals b...
Best band never to release a truly great album? Zaikesman, your point is taken! FWIW, I have seen the Stones live and ultimately I'd be hard pressed to think of any other group that DOES have 25 good songs over their careers - a record to be proud of. I have owned many Stones albums and CD's ov...
Best band never to release a truly great album? Since this is a VERY SUBJECTIVE topic, it all boils down to taste. I happen to think that the Rolling Stones have some good songs but I have never thought they had a great album, where ALL of the songs were good. Off the top of my head, I think th... |
